Find Files - Remember the "Look for"
« on: July 06, 2016, 14:17:04 »
Hello Matthias,

You will soon understand that I'm an heavy user of the "Find Files" part of MC  :P
98% of my searches are on Content while many people will probably search on name.

When one opens the "Find Files", the "Look for" field is empty.
If you click "Start", no file will be found.

Could you please implement at least one of the following:
  • Set the "Look for" field to the value entered in that field last time the "Start" button was clicked
  • Ignore the "Look for" condition if the "Look for" field is empty
  • Set the "Look for" field to "*.*" by default (when "Wildcard" mode is choosen)

In my opinion (1) and (2) should both be implemented.

Thank you (very much),

Pierre

1. This should work. The previous search you did is remembered for the next time
2. Ignore LookFor ? I dont think that is possible. It much match files some way..
3. It used to be like that and not sure why it does not work anymore. I know I added code for that for the new search, so it can be that it is missing.
I will look into why it is not set

1. Does not work.
Can I provide logs somehow?
Do you want a screen recording?

3. Let me know when you want me to beta test a correction.

Best regards,

Pierre

6. LookFor and FileContent is set to "*.txt" and "file"
7. Close MC

It doesn't work. At least in 6.2 portable. Haven't checked non-portable version.

Don't remember fixing something like that.. Can't find anything about fixing that in my change log.
But it is possible, might have been a minor thing that I fixed when doing something else.
