How to make visible by default folders with custom icon?
« on: September 01, 2016, 15:07:18 »
Hello.

I'm sorry, but although I searched the forum, I can't understand how to be able to show folders with custom icons.

Having changed the icons from some folders in the past through Windows Explorer, I can see them through that, but using MC I can only see them if I enable the "Show system files/folders" option. Is there any way to have them visible by default as standard folders?

Same thing applies at work, where we have the My Documents directory synced with a file server, so the path is network path and the folder is changed with the Microsoft's Active Sync green logo at bottom right. Thus, that folder is hidden too from normal view.
Quick notice for the above: If I have left open the Documents folder or any other network folder and restart MC, the network paths are reset with the default one. If a directory with local path is left opened, then after restart it is appeared as it was left.

MC currently do not support override of folder icons.
But MC asks windows about the icon, It will get the custom icon if you changed it in Windows.  If you watch your C:\Users\<Username> folder, you see that Downloads, Links, Music, Desktop and more folders all have their own icon.
