« on: June 10, 2020, 12:16:39 »
Thank you very much for this excellent peace of software. :+1:
Since i am thick of windows explorer i just installed multi commander on an win10 system (win10 pro; 1909; build 18363.836).

Issues?

1. mc asks me for the language settings every time i start the program
2. mc shows tip of the day every time upon program start although i opted out for it
3. mc doesnt remember my settings (layout, window size etc.)

Any suggestions?

Thank you very much in advance.

Portable or Installed version.

Sounds like something is blocking MC from saving the configuration file. Might be you security software.
or if you used portable version. if you put it in a folder that MC do not have write permission to.

for installed version they are located at
C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\MultiCommander\Config\

You can look there and se if any files are changed and check if they are writable.

Thank you for your very fast answer.  :)

I installed the MultiCommander v9.7.0 (Build 2590) (64 bit) just for me (not for all users). i have administrative rights.

I checked the installation path "C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\MultiCommander". The folder itself is write protected but the files in the config-folder are write-enabled.

There is no security software besides "simplewall" firewall.

That is strange if you go into settings change something and press apply the settings will be saved.
if you press Ctrl+L you might see more error information..  But something must block it from being written

Also something is blocking the write to the registry because the settings to last windows layout is stored there.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MultiCommander\
