FTP broken [solved]

Have you tried enabling Passive Mode..You are running in PORT mode and if you are behind FW/router that require the router to forward ports..
If you are behind a router it is easier to run in passive mode,, try enabling passive mode in the bookmark for the site

Thanks Mathias, i don't know why i haven't tried this before :-[ It solves my problems, ftp now connects fast and seems more reliable.
Winscp also has it as default, strange i didn't notice before.
So glad i can use MC for ftp, for years now my favorite filemanager.
