How to prevent folders from opening when dragging a file
« on: August 11, 2023, 16:31:18 »
Hello,

If I drag a file with the mouse, when I hover over a folder with subfolders, the subfolder tree opens. How can I avoid this behavior?

Thanks,

J

configuration - explorer panel settings - display - folder tree, uncheck "expand folder when selected using the mouse".

This has never worked for me, even though the function is selected. No folder opens.

Show "Folder Tree", It works in the tree area.

That is correct. But unfortunately not in the Explorer window.

In the explorer panel windows (filelist part). The folder you hover over is not auto opened unless you hold ALT key.

Hi Mathias, unfortunately this is impossible for me. I have only one arm.
Too bad!

To assign the ctrl, alt, and shift keys to mouse buttons, you need a mouse with additional buttons. Some gaming mice have enough buttons for this purpose.

How is it impossible to NOT hold alt key. you do not to do anything extra for that ?
You wanted to avoid going into subfolders. it only does that if you hold alt key pressed..

I would suggest to skip mouse entirely and only use keyboard.. you can do almost everything faster with keyboard with commander styled setup.. (optimized for kb) and then you only need one hand..

Thanks a lot! It works fine!
