Thanks Mathias
I found that switching between commander & explorer mode & back removed the problems. They returned some time later.
I'm using a MS keyboard & mouse which loads drivers for special keys - so that may cause a clash.
As an example using explorer mode -
select folder #1 open & change name of file
<back button>
select folder #4, open & copy file to opposite pane
<back button>
takes me to folder #1 not to top level of folder 4
or
both folders are selected
I will continue to experiment
*
I've found that I can open
n sub-folders & perform n operations & always have folder #1 selected when I use <back>to return the root/start dir;
If I hit <home> & take the cursor/bar to the root path ... in the pane, the persistent selection of folder #1 will change.
E.g.
- .. root
1 - a b c
2 - d e f
3 - g h i
4 - j k l
5 - m n o
Select #1 open 1 to access sub-folders abc.
Open 1b, del file; back x2
- 1 is hi-lited/selected
open 2, go to 2f, rename files; back x2
- 1 is selected, hi-lite selection on 2
open 4, go to 4k, extract files; back x2
- 1 is selected, hi-lite selection on 4
Open 3
Change pane copy fies to 3; change back to starting pane, back x2
1 selected. (Not 3)
Open 5, go to 5n; back to 5, open 5o, back x2
1 & 5 selected.
[At this point inverse selection will result in all files/folders being selected.]
Hit <home> persistent selection of 1 disappears
I turned off
Remember selected files/Folders when changing path before trying this.
Hope this makes it all clear
