"Folders can be forced to be sorted by name."

Does not work on network drives. It does lock the sorting of folders, but there not alphabetical.
Only folders that i manually set to alphabetical before i turn the setting on remain sorted correctly, but when i then navigate to any other folder, the sort is wrong.
Might be that you see a cached result. A refresh might be needed.

"Always sort folders by name" also doesn't respect "Natural sorting" setting.
I don't think so.

Most of the time it works.. looks to depend on what kind of names there are.  fails sometimes.. I will see if it can be fix..
(Or if I just remove this again.. )

Looks like it failed to replace some files. can be that MC is already running or something else is locking up the files. AV or other programs.

When MC launches the update it tells it to check beta but since it is restarted again because it downloads a newer version that option is lost.
It is possible to set that setting in the MultiUpdate settings.

Backup in MultiUpdate backup everything into a folder.
But there might be issues going from v3.x => v2.x since the configuration is change a bit in v3.0

The latest Portable on the web site is 2.8.2, What issue do you get with that ? Because you can not get the MCIcons.dll error in that version since that version does not use that file.

Sounds like the upgrade failed or something. Is the file MCIcons.dll there at all ?

There is no "stable" version that has MCIcons.dll, it is new for 3.0 and only in 3.0 so if "stable" also fails then it must fail on something else.

All version are here

3460
Ah okey.

I will see if I can recreate that and fix it.

3461
Depends on how long the path was.
Most of the function in MC support a path up to 4096. If it is longer then that there still can be an issue

Support and Feedback / Re: why 'overwrite'
« on: February 10, 2013, 11:57:22 »
Yes that an issue with the error handling. Happens because the source file can not be deleted because of Readonly attribute. When moving a file that is not on the same partition a Copy and Delete is done.
Pressing 'overwrite' will delete source file. ( the file has already been copied. )

Support and Feedback / Re: color configuration precedence
« on: February 10, 2013, 11:46:22 »
You can't, The Specific color will override all other colors.
But a new rule based color system is planed. Then It will be possible.

Strange. I will take a look at it

3465
There is Ctrl+N and then Return.  I was planing to also add a button. But there was no good place to put it.

3466
Modifying the queue (Remove/Rearrange/save/load/...) is something that have been planed for a long time. But it is something that require a lot of work so I have pushed it forward. But it is on the list.

Do not see any download links for 32 or 64 bit version MC v3.0 BETA 1337.
Check for updates in previous 1335 version reported "No new version is found!"

This is a public beta and is available the normal way. So the update program will find it if the download beta option is checked.

Support and Feedback / Re: Delete Dialog and Shell Context Questions
« on: February 06, 2013, 15:17:21 »
I have looked through the docs and this forum, but I haven't been able to find the answer to these two questions.

1. Is it possible to turn off the delete dialog that appears when deleting files/folders? I don't want to be asked what options to use when deleting each and every time.

2. Is it possible to map a key to open the shell context menu? I know how to map a mouse click to open the shell context menu. However, I would like to use my keyboard to open the shell context menu. My keyboard is a compact type, so it does not have a shell context menu key like some keyboards have.

Thanks in advance.
1. No it was to dangerous and too many accidental files got deleted by users so that option was removed. But I plan on maybe adding it again, but only for deleting to recycle bin. (Like Windows 8) . I might add a option to turn it off completely for permanent delete, But that option will not be exposed in settings. you will have to add that to the settings files manually.

2. The Context Menu button on the keyboard work. But if you are missing that key. like you are then you are out of luck. Maybe it is possible to remap that key to another key with some program.. But that would be system wide and not only in MC. I will see if it might be possible to add so that command can be customized.

3470
It is planned.. But right now there is a conflict when doing it between starting a copy of the dragged items or by execute file that files are dropped on.
A workaround (If you drop files a lot on the same exe) is to place the exe in the quick launch bar.  Dropping files on a files there works.

Support and Feedback / Re: Zip and encodings
« on: February 06, 2013, 15:03:19 »
Zip by its standard only allow for 7bit characters.

But there are settings to force what code page to use. They are still "experimental" (not widely tested) so you have to type the settings in the command line field

* Force the zip filesystem to use a custom codepage. Set Codepage using ":zipcp <cp num>" in the command line field. ( type ":zipcp -1" for current system codepage )
":zipcp 0" to restore to default behavior

* Force the zip filesystem to use the extended zip support for UTF8 when created Zip archive. Use commandline command ":ziputf8 1" to enable and ":ziputf8 0" to disable

Or press Ctrl+. (dot)
Then Target path is set to the same as the source.

Think you need to explain that better.

Target panel is always the panel that is not in focus. and is the default target location for copy and other operations.. Like other commanders.

3475
Or they can use MC to open the 7Zip file. If you copy the content of a 7Zip file from inside MC it will work.
