Support and Feedback / Re: Colouring of items in focus
« on: February 18, 2014, 18:35:59 »
I had tried this before, but just to be sure did it again now and restarted the MC and still nothing. I thought this setting (override w background was for the panel background?

It is very strange..  It works for me when I tries it.
(I was wrong about the "Override standard windows background" it does not need to be enabled.)
I enable "Use file specified background color", Then edit the color for focus and uncheck "Use default background color" and change the background..  Then OK.
then apply on the setting panel.
And now the color is changed.

Maybe it fails to save the config (Maybe you do not have permissions)
Press Ctrl+L and look at the bottom of the application log see if there is an error about not able to save. (It should show a dialog about that also , but maybe not )

Can you change other settings/color in the settings panel ?

A type from Jungle, it is "${sourcepath}"
 ( $ before the { } tag. )

But It depends on where you use it and what UserDefinedCommand type you use..
If you are creating a UserDefinedCommand of External type then use the MultiTags as Jungle say..

Have you enable top level background settings ?

 [.] Override standard Windows Background

This need to be enabled for any subsettings under it to also be active

You switch between the two default setups in the Quick Look'n'Feel setup.
There is Commander styled and Windows Explorer Styled. Since you mention TC, I guess you will use Commander styled setup. It is similar to the setup that TC have.
If none is selected at first start of MC. Then Commander styled is used,

Support and Feedback / Re: Create m3u/pls from highlighted mp3 files?
« on: February 17, 2014, 11:14:50 »
.m3u file is just a text file with the path to all the mp3 files.

So you can select the files and press Ctrl+P (copy path of selected files to the clipboard)
Then press Ctrl+V to paste (save) the text in the clipboard to file and make sure to give it the .m3u extension.

Blog post comments / Re: Multi Commander 4 - Sneak Peak 2 - Tabs
« on: February 12, 2014, 16:09:24 »
Still is not working at all... strange that one icon (Download) is working

I Know, And I do not think it will be fixed anytime soon.

No it is not strange.. as said above "is not working 100% because the icon have to already be cached for this to work", So if download folder work then the icon for that folder have already been shown and cached and that is why it works :)

(I guess that your fist tab named "documents" is created first. So it starts to fetch icons so when this tab is created and shown that icons is then in the cache)

Support and Feedback / Re: MC hang with AVG antivirus
« on: February 12, 2014, 06:53:54 »
Don't think there is much MC can do about that since I can not control what AVG does.
When showing the right click menu (context menu) all installed shell extensions get loaded into the MC process. And a lot of bad shell extensions do not like it when somebody else then WinExplorer calls them.

What version of AVG is it ? and what OS and Platform version ?

Don't know..
But you can try to tweak the setting for the thumbnail system under core settings at the bottom of the filesystem tab. There are a couple of settings for the thumbnail system

I been playing around with some ides on how that would work.. However it would require a program running on the remote machine (Maybe another instance of MC)

Yes, External is added by drag and drop..   UDC command is a later addition.

Start folder is only greyed out for buttons connected to a UserDefinedCommand.
For buttons connected to external programs it is available.

P.S. Mathias. I've noticed that after moving file from left to the right panel, right panel is updated but left is not. After moving from right to the left both panels are updated.
(Please create separate posts for bugs.. )

I can not reproduce that.. Is the locations that is not updating a NAS or network share ? (Some NAS and networked computer sends invalid notification for renames. Move file on same partition is the same as a rename)

Normally all Explorer Panels will be told when by the OS when a viewed path is changed.
I might be that something happened and that tab you had open fail to tell the subsystem that it would also receive filesystem changes.

It is a lot more then just location that is set there.. But you can create a UserDefinedCommand that calls "MC.Explorer.Copy NODIALOG"

« on: February 04, 2014, 10:08:09 »
Ah, I see that empty area (whitespace) is a space with no symbols even if it is a item row. And selection doesn't matter.
But I don't know whether it is a bug or by design.
It is by design..  whitespace is the area that does not contain any text or icon.. (aka. the background )

It is not possible to add/remove individual buttons from the main toolbars yet.
You can only add own toolbar buttons to the quick launch bar.

There is an error in text item 1404 and 1405, The text item is expected to contain a "new line" character "\n" so that the button text is spitted up.. But it is missing.

Hm Also 353, 354 for the header text there is wrong.

but the thing is I always run Ur application with admin privileges -- if we are talkin about context menu... I know that there is this option to turn on admin rights from within Ur application but I cant remember now where to find this option

plus... if it were my system preventin sth to run correctly the issue would appear when I revert to version 3.5 but its not there -- revertin to the previous version of Ur application removes the problem completely: all files and folders are visible with no issues
No the context menu thing is when you are launching other programs as admin. it is not show when you are already running as admin.

Maybe MC is no longer run as admin ? maybe the flag for the shortcut to always start it as admin got lost when updating ?
If MC are run with admin permissions you will see the text "[Admin]" in the titlebar.
( I don't understand why you did not have permission then to write the backup file if you was running as admin. )

The thing is that there are no changes since 3.5 that changes how MC scan the file system. It is the same so why it does not work on your machine is very strange.

I don't have any idea why it does not work on your machine. it does not make sense. Something is different with your setup and everybody else. Question is what.

Support and Feedback / Re: File coloring rules
« on: February 03, 2014, 13:35:07 »
As mention above. Rules with date/time is only revalidated if it been more then 1 minute ago since last time. This is because validating rules are slow and it need to be cached. Most of the time this only affect you if you tweak the date/time of the files.

However if you select "Refresh file coloring for files and folders" from the colorwheel popup it will force a refresh.. (It is possible to assign that command to hotkey)

When using mouse you can get the context menu of current folder from the ".." item. But looks like it is broken when using the context menu keyboard key. (I will see If i can fix that for next release.)

It should work a lot better in v4.1 (1620)

I created backup but while doing it a strange thing happened... when I tried to selected each of my 3 partitions for the save location it gave me 'permission access denied' info... and again I could easily save in any of my personal folders or on the desktop

Sound like you do not have permissions to write to those locations..

However..

Your settings works for me. I have no issues browsing the filesystem.
I don't understand why it does not work for you.
Something on your machine is special against other system. The question is what is special with your setup..
Maybe it is some permission problems and some of the folders you pass on the way up you do not have permission to browse ? Not sure.

To check if it is a permission issue. you can test to run MC as administrator and see if you still get the same issue.

Strange.. It does not make any sense.

Does it help of you try to force a refresh ? or still blank..
You say "back" to D:\ Do you mean that when you first viewed D:\ is was showing but after you went to another location and when you got back to D:\ it was empty ? or is it always empty when you browse D:\

Also the Status field.. Does it say there are files and folders there when it is blank,. so does it say 0/0 files and 0/0 folders selected.

If you go to menu > Help > Backup / Restore
and create a backup of your configuration and send it to me at http://multicommander.com/upload/
And I will check if it is some configuration issue.
