Title: How to keep not reachable path
Post by: cdull on September 24, 2019, 13:41:59
I am new to Multi Commander.

My problem is to keep a unreachable path.

Like i have open 3 paths from a USB flash drive. Now i remove the USB flash drive and restart Multi Commander.

Now i got 3 times "C:\" and my paths are lost.

I found nothing in the settings to change this.

How can i keep the paths and if i click on it i will get a message "the path is not reachable" or something like this - and keep the tab open.

Does anyone know if this is possible with Multi Commander at the moment?

Best Regards
Christian

Go to Menu Configuration > Explorer Panel Settings, then Display tab, scroll to Save on exit
Try uncheck Remember only paths to local harddrives

That is what i found before i created this post, but that is not working. It resets to c:\ if the drive is not connected

No if a local drives does not exists then it can't show it, it will revert back to C:\
else it would show a empty panel. and that is not good.

You can have a TabSession with settings for when the drive is connect and swap to that when the drive is connected

In the past i used QTTabbar (tabs in Windows Explorer) There is see the name of a tab and when i click on it, i get a popup message that says "path xy is not reachable". After i press "ok" it closes the popup and tab.

This would also the best solution at multi commander for me

I don't think that would be a good solution. if the drive are gone it is gone. And showing message boxes is not a good solution
It would also not fit inte the architecture on how MC works.

Thanks for reply.

There are many ways to deal with the problem for me (with a little bit afford)

1. Use tab sessions
2. Save open tabs as files and load them (when i lost some tabs)
3. Open multi commander only when the drive is connected
