I've complained before about long waiting times when copying a file, sometimes over a minute.
I found that if this starts (windows present a wait cursor)  i can start explorer and browse to the the destination folder, the moment i hit that folder, mc commences to copy and the wait is over.

the cpu problem does not happen on the laptop.
On the desktop, if i close all panels, the cpu goes to 0, opening just one panel and it goes to 6.6.

fixed it by importing the settings from the laptop, cpu is back to normal.

i got 'bad gateway' trying to upload, maybe because the filesize is quite big, 154mb, i've put it here https://jcremers.com/MultiCommander.DMP
The file shows nothing in nirsoft bluescreenview though.

Mc taking longer to respond is what i see on two pc's here. You've told me before it only uses windows api but i can't help seeing a big difference, sorry.

Mathias i have a widget on the desktop that shows cpu for processes. This mc beta shows between 6 and 7% cpu being idle. I never saw that before so i downgraded to latest stable and cpu use is normal again, so low it doesn't even show up anymore.
Also where is the page to download older beta's please, the previous one was working fine.

Also, while i have your ear, for me a weak point in mc, my favorite filemanager, it how it handles a network share that is gone, it does not respond for a long time, no other filemanager takes so long.

Mathias the problem with the network shares is gone now i've disabled those drive's in settings.

The other problem, some 16 seconds wait before a copy, did not happen again since yesterday. Maybe it was something temporary from a windows update i don't know but i'm relieved, fingers crossed.
I don't want to use another filemanager.

I guess that it is the first time you do a copy.
Because the first time it will check devices and what type they are to check what Read/write statergy to use.

This is new behaviour, MC did not do this before, also explorer and others have no delay.

in Core Settings > FileSystem > Tweak
You can select devices to hide. Devices here will not be checked at startup. However I do think they are check the first time you do a copy..

Mathias i have some troubles.
A file copy takes some 16 seconds before the overwrite confirmation dialog appears, log:

Thanks Mathias, i don't know why i haven't tried this before It solves my problems, ftp now connects fast and seems more reliable.
Winscp also has it as default, strange i didn't notice before.
So glad i can use MC for ftp, for years now my favorite filemanager.

i didn't have the log window open, but just now i tried again and the window opened but was empty.
I bet it can be something with the server yes. I made a ticket at the hoster to see if they know something.

I've had trouble with MC - ftp before while winscp was working and i can't help the idea it's something with how mc handles ftp.

First it does Scanning Filesystem which takes very long. Then it presents an empty panel. Then after some time it shows only the public_html map with a size of 0 bytes and it can't be clicked or expanded.
Other ftp software like WinScp work fine.

I've had trouble with MC - ftp before while winscp was working and i can't help the idea it's something with how mc handles ftp.

And it is set to Ctrl-0 so every time i need to update something on the server i can just use the keypress.

However on each successful connect it also adds another ftp icon on the top of the window, and after a while it sometimes won't even connect anymore.
Is there a way i can keep or re-use the first successful connection with the same script / keypress?

This is driving me crazy. The toolbar gets filled with ftp icons and when you click on them i just get an error beep because they are old and disconnected.
I disabled the error window because it's so small to click on the X to close it and it doesn't help the issue.
I'd like an easy reliable way to connect a panel to the ftp server with a keystroke. I'm must be missing something.

I had two different entries in the bookmarks, i removed the duplicate, now it works fine.

So i don't send any path myself, mc makes those CWD itself, and they are incorrect, they should start at /home/username/domains/jcremers.com/public_html/

I've been having some trouble with ftp lately, the hoster made some changes and it's better now but it seems i have to revise some scripts because they don't work as expected anymore.

what exactly is the syntax for MC.Explorer.Goto PATH=ftp:mysite.com please? It doesn't work as expected.

Strange things happening, and after 'Server request denied' i don't see a panel, but it does NOOP so it's still connected.

Multicommander connects fine to another ftp server, so it seems to be something on the server side.

I think this *might* be related to a windows update a few days ago.
Ftp stopped working on mc (and on the notepad++ ftp plugin), so i'm pretty [censored].
Mc gives me timed out errors. Firewall is off (i hope, i've read someone saying an update changed ftp rules).
It still works on winscp and on filezilla.
Please help
