Feature Requests and Suggestions / Re: MC and Listary integration
« on: March 14, 2013, 13:00:12 »
Yes, something like that. Works really fast.

But some improvements in MC may be needed, to make it work in all modes with Listary (especially in filters and quick search)

Great news! Listary developer answered: "I'll try to add Multi Commander support in the next major version"

Listary http://www.listary.com/ already have support of most file managers.
Do you have any plans to contact with Listary developers? It would be great to include MultiCommander support in upcoming versions of Listary.

But you always can show/hide "hidden files and folders" and "system files and folders" in Configuration - Explorer panel settings... - Display tab - File and folders display - Show/Hide special files and folders

Include this example with description in tooltip for future versions. I think many people do not even know of such functional existence.

Beta Releases / Re: Multi Commander v3.0 BETA 1337
« on: February 12, 2013, 06:57:45 »
Autoupdate works bad.

After first run of update, we see that there is Release v3.0 BETA (Build 1337) (9-Feb-2013)
but Multi Update says:
Checking if newer version exists.
Version information received.
Current installed version is 2.8.2.1291
No update of Multi Commander available.

Only after second run of update we can install current version.

Do not see any download links for 32 or 64 bit version MC v3.0 BETA 1337.
Check for updates in previous 1335 version reported "No new version is found!"

Concerning .ISO, .CAB, wlx, wcx... On the one side, there are a lot of plugins, so internal TC-plugins support could make MC development easier in the future.

On the other side, implementing such support might become just a waste of time since there are already at least 2 filemanagers supporting wlx and wcx (Unreal Commander, Double Commander).

I think you may just release own plugin sdk and concentrate on other global ideas. Step by step (maybe some vote again?). From my point of view, there's no need in fourth Total Commander. IMHO it is impossible to create something truly perfect that can completely satisfy everyone.

Don't think that implementing existing wcx, wlx, wfx and wdx plugins is just a waste of time. The question is not only in creating own sdk, but in fact in convincing 'lazy' developers that they have to write something under it. What for they have to write something under specific file manager on a new sdk, if, in fact, their plugins already work fine in extensive amount of other file managers? Different developers use them without any problems and if user want to migrate to another file manager familiar tools would be used.
P.S. FreeCommander XE also have support of wcx and wlx plugins.

Согласен, сразу не вчитался в вопрос. Тогда это просто очень важный запрос на доработку.

Agree, didn't get a grasp of the issue. Then it's just a very important feature request.

35
Каков запрос - таково и решение. Несколько столбцов не получится из-за дополнительных колонок с размером и датой.

Decision for exact query. We can't get multiple columns because of extra columns with size and date.

36
Намного проще настроить Подробный вид под ваши нужды. Жмете правой кнопкой мыши по заголовку столбцов и убираете Аттрибуты. Вот и получился Краткий вид с Размером и Датой.

It is much easier to configure Detail view for your needs. Right-click on the column title and clear "Attributes". Now you have, List view with Size and Date.

37
I know about Insert key, but very often I use spacebar for such purposes, because there is no need for searching it on keyboard (impossible to miss).

38
1. "Go to the next item after selecting with spacebar" is standard option for almost all file commanders. Still think that it should be request for further improvements.

2. Thanks for the tip with "Remember selected files/folders when changing path". It works fine. But I think this option should be disabled by default.

39
May be I was looking bad in settings, but could not find option "Go to the next item after selecting with spacebar" (I think there is no need to explain what this option should do).
Also not quite understand the logic of the file selection. For example, I select several files in C:\1\, after that change directory to C:\2\ and again return to C:\1\ and see, that files are still selected in it. And I have to deselect them manually. It is very inconvinient. Suggest to make option in setings like "Do not store selection after changing folder" or change program behaviour. All file managers do not store selection after changing folder.
All is done in MC 3.0 build 1330.

In find files there is need for several new options:
1. In "Look in" make button with selection of drives and types of drives to perform searching on: All drives; All local drives; or ability to select particular drive; or ability to select several drives (with Shift and Ctrl) - ex. C:\; D:\; and so on. At the moment it is very uncomfortable to set necessary drives manually.
2. New option "Search in archives" with archive files filter - ex.: *.zip;*.rar or empty for all supported archive types.
3. Ability to use external converters for searching content in MS Office formats (rtf;docx;xlsx;pptx;doc;xls;ppt), Open/Libre Office formats (sxw;sxc;sxi;sxd;odt;ods;odp;odg), Adobe formats (pdf). There is a brilliant free tool for such purposes named xdoc2txt. And it's a pity that here it could not to be used.
4. Extend "Match dates" with new option "Not older than" - XXX minutes or hours or days or weeks or months or years.

Feature Requests and Suggestions / Re: Compare 2 files by content
« on: January 25, 2013, 19:18:34 »
May be it's not a bad idea to make a new type of programs in Configuration - File Type Setup... named "Compare files" (all settings must be identical for other type of programs - name, path, parameters, extensions). And there users may add external programs to use for file comparing (like other file commanders do). There are many programs of such a kind. And in main menu we only need to make new item named "Сompare files (external)".
