Not sure what you mean..
There is no reason for transparent since there is not picture in the background.. background is solid color.

Under color settings you can change the color for the System/Hidden and Readonly files. you can specify a change value. (It will calculate the color automatically based on this value and the value you have for that item ) or you can set a fixed color for them.

The option "Don't show the focus indicator" if checked it will turn of the focus frame.
and then you need to customize the colors and background for "Focus" item. under the Color tab in Explorer Panel Settings.
But I do not think you can have it look exactly as Windows Explorer. You will not get the gradient color scale of the background that you get in Explorer on Win7

Alt+F1 shows the left panels Device Dropdown, Alt F2 the device dropdonw for the right panel.
and then pressing D will change the drive to D.

If you have a wide monitor then you will probably not shrink the program so much so that icons disappear.

I been think about adding something like that.  Problem is that it is not easy to add it into the way everything work now since a lot of the UI is built dynamic at runtime.

(Why do I not have unlimited time to spend on developing new things. So much to add, so little time..)

It depend on what kind of compare you thinking about. Binary/Check Sum compare? Yes , A content compare that shows what lines the files has that differs ? No. But there are lot of free tools for that and better integration with those tool will be added.

You can not replace it.
But you can add so that the arrow key also goes into folder using script

create a User Defined Command of Multi-Script type

Then save that command and press the "HotKey" button (in the User Commands dialog) and assign the Arrow key to that command.

1. When drive combos enabled for explorer panel and MC window size is quite small, buttons (tree, root etc) are not visible.

I see 3 ways to resolve this.
  a) Additional button (like arrow button in old MS Office toolbars) may appear which shows something like popup menu with inaccessible buttons
  b) Bar wrap, i.e. buttons which don't fit bar width should be shown at next line
  c) Additional toolbar (like drive bar)

Yes, That is something would like to fix. But there is no easy way to fix so that it will auto correct it self if the window is resized. 
All good solution would require a lot of work. And I would categorize it is a minor issue and it would cost to much develop time to fix it.
But I put it on the list. So maybe I get a good idea someday and can fix it in a easy way.

2. Current file info. This was already suggested but it is especially actual now because of list mode.
In list view mode you can't see current file info (size, date, attr ...), so maybe a section in status bar can be used for that?

Yes, Something like that is planned. I will push it higher up on the todo list.

Estimate time left is just a estimate. It can never be perfect because so many external factor affect how long it takes and .  Right now estimated time is calculated, based on how long time it has taken to copy the bytes up to that point, and how many bytes that is left.

But if you copy a lot of small file the harddrive will have a lot of overhead when it create and closes files. and also drive fragmentation and other program on the computer that also starts to access the drives will affect the performance.

When you copy files using Paste (Ctrl+C and then Ctrl+V) the copy operation is handled by Windows and not MultiCommander.

Copy files using the copy button/Copy menu option/copy shortcut or drag and drop and the copy operation is handled by MultiCommander and it should keep files dates. (unless you disabled that options )

Sir, as an user I have some suggestions to make which I wish to, only because I love MC and have no intent to question your ability, or the design. Perhaps my suggestions are not applicable to all users but I wish to put them over and let you decide what is right to include what not.
Getting OK from you I shall post them.

All suggestions and feature requests are welcomed, I might not add all requests. But if users do not say what they would like to have added, there is little chance for it to be added.

Any suggestions and feature request can be posted on the suggestion forum. Or if you do not want to post public you can always send me a message private using'Send Feedback' from inside MC from the help menu or from the website

Yes, MC is designed from the beginning too NOT lock the main UI and in most situation it works. This is somethings that must be designed from the beginning because it can be very hard to change that later on without major rewrites.

Also, If you start a new copy operation while you already have one running, you can choice to add it to the queue of the already running copy operation or start a new. Because if you start multiple copy operation that work against the same harddrive the performance can really suffer (unless you have SSD drives )

I know.  The problem is that FTP is added as a virtual filesystem. But I'm planing on finding some sort of solution for all the special FTP thing that can't be mapped from normal file system functions.

The Disconnect button will be enable IF window tells MC that the device is of removable type. Why windows does not do that for your Goflex drive, I do not know.
All other external storage devices I tested on works.
