You can drop on column header when dragging from another window to drop in current path.

Use hotkeys.. it is the recommended and faster way to copy files. drag and drop is only there to support the basic needs and will only give you limited control.

Feature Requests and Suggestions / Re: File Search Confusion
« on: March 05, 2013, 12:50:25 »
I just spent quite a while searching for the search operation in the interface.
I finally found it under the "Extensions" menu.
Because search is an extension, and MC is built around a extension/plugin architecture.

It's surprising to me to see what I think is a basic functionality in the "Extensions" area.
Of course it is no problem for me now, that i know it, but it could be for others.
Any chance to give it a more natural home in the tree, such as under "File" or "Edit"?
No, that is not possible.

Another thing that caused confusion: There is an icon with a magnifying glass in the toolbar.
If my experience is anything to go by, the magnifying glass usually represents Searching.
Problem is that view/inspect file and search often uses similar icons.

If you copy files using copy/paste ("Copy here" ? MC does not have this ? ) from the context menu (right click menu) then most likely the copying is NOT done by Multi Commander, but probably by Windows Explorer or some other shell extension.

The Right click menu that is show is the Windows Explorer context menu.  So Windows Explorer controls what does show in it.

To copy using MC press the Copy button or Hotkey for copy.

I don't understand what you want..

*.* is the same as "" (empty)

Ctrl+F , write new filter, return, done,.

3430
Explorer Panel Settings > Layout (tab)
[.] Reset filter to *.* when changing path

This will reset the view folder when leaving a path

3431
You have to change the "default" column profile.

Right click columns, Customize columns Sets, select "[Default]" and change that.

Support and Feedback / Re: "Go up" by double-clicking

Yes.. It is a bit tricky to find.

Menu > Configuration > Explorer Panel

Then go to the "Mouse Configuration" Tab

And for "Mouse Action Options" there is a settings for the Action "Open Folder / Execute File" that is named
[.] Go to parent folder if click was on empty area.

Check that.

Relative paths should work.
A button is coming there that will translate a path to a relative path.  (Just like in FileType Setup)

3434
There are two possible cases here..
First is if Cyrillic letter fails to open the quick searchbox and the second is if Cyrillic letter is now shown in the quckseach box after it has been shown.

What I mean is if you start a quick search with a A-Z letter so that the quicksearch box is show. does it after that works with Cyrillic symbols. ?

Support and Feedback / Re: How can i disconnect from FTP?
« on: March 01, 2013, 10:26:12 »
Or maybe closing FTP-tab should disconnect?

No that would not work.

When you connect to a FTP site that path is connected to a virtual device (0:\ , 1:\,  2\ and so on) that is inserted into the Virtual filesystem inside MC.
And ANY Explorer Panel ( or other extension that browse the MC Virtual filesystem) will be able to see this device.
No tab is owning a filesystem device. You can start FTP from one tab and then browse to it from another.

Feature Requests and Suggestions / Re: Proxy support for FTP
« on: March 01, 2013, 08:45:06 »
Everything is possible :)

There is some kind of proxy support in the FTP code I use.  (But it will not use IE settings for proxy). But I do not know how well it works and for what types of proxy it works. And I have not tested it.

FTP over proxy is messy and very time consuming to add. I got it on my list. But before I can do anything with it I need more information about how it works and how to test and stuff. And I have not had the time for that yet.

Think so.. or you can use the -L= and -R= parameter to really specify left / right

To force what paths tabs should show at startup you control that using commandline parameters.

It will only be visible if Windows connect a drive letter to it. and windows will only do that is it can recognize the device as a storage device.

Some folder must have the System or Hidden attribute set or they would be shown.

"*.sql /*"

View filter starting with / specify a folder filter. so *.sql for only the sql files and /* to show all folders.

Something like that is on my list of things to add.  It does however require a big portion of time to add it. It it has been push a side a bit by other more important things. But it still very high up on the list. :)

But the problem with the autosize function is a real problem xD I just switch betwenn Autosize Columns and not Autosize Columns (restart MC after changing that)
You do not need to restart when changing that option.

I can not recreate an problem when doing that, might be that the issue only happen after something else also been done or something.

If the new folder sort is enabled, i can't sort any other way. For example if i try to sort by date it shows the same order than before.
Yes.. It will lock folders to be sorted A->Z and the normal sorting will only affect files.

Autosize Colums doesn't work correctly. The first column (in my case filename) is compressed. It occurs since the new Version of MutliCommander.
Nothing with columns is changed, But switching from using folder tree and different view mode it can happen that it start to remember the wrong value.
Right click on column header and select "Use column sets > Default"
