It is actually on my list so it will come soon.

If "Allow only a single instance of Multi Commander" is checked then if anohter instance is started the currently running will only pop to the front.

If you want it to open a new tab with a specific path you need to tell the launching program to start MultiCommander with "MultiCommander /OPEN <Path>"
then the <path> is sent to the other running MultiCommander and a new tab for that path is opened.

1. Works for me here. But might be some special settings/setting file. ( Or might be a portable mode issue, Will check that later)
2. Restore of language backup from old format will not be supported.
and it should say that when trying to restore using the "restore" button in the language editor.
But it is possible to manually restore a backup by replacing the language files in <userdata>\Languages\
3. Not able to reproduce that

Configuration File Changes

Some settings that was stored in MultiCommander.xml is now stored in own configuration files.
It will automatically move the information if found..

FileOperation Read/Write Stratergy => FileOpRWStratergy.xml
FileOperations Plugin Profiles => FileOpPluginProfiles.xml
FileOperation Presets => FileOpPresets.xml

MultiLanguage System Changes

The major changes in this version is how the MultiLanguage system works.

The language files by it self are the same. What is change is how they are stored and loaded.

There are no longer a bunch of language files spread out in different locations for all the extensions.
There are now one language-pack file for every language.

In the Languages folder you will now find LangPack_en.zip , LangPack_se.zip, LangPack_ru.zip and so on.
This is the primary location that MultiCommander will read language files from.

However since MultiCommander will support 3d party extension there need to be a wait for them to deliver there own language files.
So if a language files for an extension is not found in the primary location. It will try to read the language file from a Language subfolder
at the location of the extension. eg (<mcinstall>\Extension\<myextension>\Languages\myextension_en.xml )

However.. This will works well for 99% of the user. But if you are a translator and needs to edit/create a new languages this is not good.

So when you start the built in language editor it will unpack the language pack into a Languages folder in MultiCommanders userdata folder.
(type ":gouserdata" to get to that location ) (This also mean you no longer needs to run MultiCommander as admin to edit language files.)

Now you can editor and change the language files, Either using the built-in language editor or external tool.
When MultiCommander starts it will also look for matching language files in the userdata location and if found they will be used instead of using the language pack files.

One thing to notice is that when you upgrade MultiCommander. And the new LangPack are newer then the unpacked language data in the userdata language folder,
MultiCommander will detect that and go back and use the Language pack files and the Language Editor will inform that there is a version mismatch.
A message dialog about that will also be shown.

Other news to the language editor is that is can now create Language Pack in both the internal and public format.
The Internal format is used when sending a language pack to me to be included into the release.

You will also have the option to upload the language pack directly from MultiCommander instead of sending it using email.
However you will need a submit key. That is so that not anyone can just submit changes with crazy stuff in them.
So mail me to get a submit key if you want to submit language updates this way
(I thinking about automating the language update process. but right now it is not fully automated.)

Support and Feedback / Re: Cannot show Hotpath interface
« on: January 10, 2013, 17:11:22 »
Ah, OK, thanks for that. I didn't notice the star icon.

I would have expected to be able to open it from a menu as well though.

As I understand it it is a general principle that everything that you can do
from a button or an icon should also be available somewhere  in the menus.

And the right-click access is nifty, I'd prefer to have that back as well.
I'll post a request in the suggestions forum.

There will be more features and options coming in the next release to the favorites window.
Some of the feature things that got missing from hotpath and that are not in the Favorites Window. will be added to the Fav Window.

Hello

It's my phone android who is not showed on MC
I cannot see it and explore it

Sorry...
MC only show devices that are shown as device letters in Windows.
On some device you need to set it so that Windows recognize it as a USB Storage device

Favourites.

1. Warning message displayed twice in delete folder dialog in favourites ("All favourites under the folder will also be removed").
2. In delete folder or item dialog if you press left mouse button, then move mouse and then release (like drag and drop), you will be moved to the favorites main window. So, delete dialog disappears and nothing is deleted

Thanks

1. Will fix

2. Ahh you mean you press right mouse button while dragging ?..  yes that looks the be an issue. I will fix..

Support and Feedback / Re: startup folders for left and right panels
« on: January 04, 2013, 14:56:38 »
Can I set the left panel to be active by default?

Menu > Configuration > Core Settings > Layout tab (first)

Under "Panel Tab"
Change "Set Focus at startup to [Auto]" to "Left"

« on: January 04, 2013, 11:46:06 »
I wonder if I can set the startup folder for the panels. With other "commanders" this is either in the Config menu or the current folders are saved when the program exits.
The current paths should be saved when the program exits. Networks path are not save unless you enable it in options

and if you want fixed start path everything you startup you do that with commandline parameters, just as Jungle said.

Tips and Tricks / Re: Pasting clipboard data into Multi Commander
« on: January 02, 2013, 21:52:20 »
I agree. this feature is great and I use it all the time. You can also drag and drop a picture into MC, but in that case it is saved in bmp format by default  and that can not be changed. Don't you think that jpg is more preferable ?
When you drag'n'drop a pictures it comes to MC as a file and not as pure picture (BITMAP) data. So it would not be good idea to start converting it. Then all .bmp files you copied would be converted.

I like QuickPaths already (especially that they work quite similar to the HotPaths I have accustomed to), but there seems to be a difference (or I just missed something). For HotPaths there was a configuration item to increase their number from 10 to a desired higher amount. I used 20. If I understand right, now there is only 10, and I can create more sections of favorites if I want.
Yes there are only ten.. for hotpath you could have more then 10. But the Ctrl+<num> shortcut keys only worked for the first 10.
And since you now can add unlimited numbers of favorites there, There is no reason to have QuickPath that can not be mapped to any Shortcut keys.
since you have to show the window anyway to select it.

One little feature request: could you perhaps reset the quick filter field when one closes the Favorites window? I think it would be more convenient to use if it would always start empty...
I can see that both situations might be wanted. So maybe I add an option for it. Plus a way to easy clear it with a quick key press. So if you want it to be kept you can clear it fast.

You mean the column that is listed as "Standard - Version" They are using Language system
Extended - Version.
After modifying column set it seems OK now.
Sorry I meant "Extended Version" as you said.. There is no "Standard - Version" :)

Think I need to redesign how the column customization works a bit. Need to move that issue up on the list I think. needs to be easier to use

Hotpaths are gone. They was a lot of issue with them..

QuickPaths is the new HotPaths. Works almost the same. But the QuickPath are configured in the Favorites windows.
The first section in the favorites window you have 10 QuickPaths (Like the HotPaths)
Existings HotPath should have automatically been converted to that.
Press the <Star> Icon or Alt+Backspace. To show the Favorites Window and select a Quick Path to go to, Or Press Ctrl+<num> (just as Hotpath) to go to a quick path directly.

There still is some configuration referring HotPath. That is a mistakes. I forgot to remove them

There is still a "Hotpath" button on the Button Bar,
There is? I don't see it..

Suggestions

1. Tooltips should be added for drive toolbar. When i enable Special folders, several identical folder icons are displayed without titles and tooltips.

2. Synchronize drive toolbar itmes with drive combo items. So the same items should be displayed both in the bar and combo. Now if i disable virtual devices in the toolbar, they are still displayed in the combo

3. Move tollbar settings from Explorer panel Settings to Core settings

1. Yes it is on my list. It will be added

2. Hmm No.. Many just want the drives in the toolbar and what everything in the dropdown, But manybe added the option for the dropdown too.

3. Can't be done. Device Toolbar and FileCommand Toolsbar are owned by the Explorer Panel. it is the Explorer Panel extension that create and handles them.

Bugs.

1. There is Version column in the Explorer panel tab. But although i've translated that caption it is still in English.

2. 3 buttons in Columns setup dialog (up, down. delete) still have no captions if themes disabled in Windows XP

1. I will fix

2. You mean the button that shows "^" "v" and "X" ? hm strange that the caption goes away if themes are disabled.
Anyway. Those buttons should be changed to Icons anyway.
---
I see KibiBytes, MebiBytes etc in the lang resources, but in the settings "Size of 1KB" is used instead. Are those units used somewhere?
They are not used.. Yet.  I started added support for it. but never finished it.

You know if this are new v3.0 issues, Worked in 2.8.1 but not in 3.0

1.  When i try to add new favourite, there is random text in "Name" and "Path / URL" fields (there may be unreadable symbols or filenames)
Random text ? It should show the current path there.. Maybe current panel is not an Explorer Panel. Search or something else ?

2. There is no caret in the edit fields and it is impossible to change focus via mouse - only Tab button works
Hmm Weird.

3. Staus/Info text is not cleared when going to "Add new Section" dialog
Hmm Not seeing that. hm XP ?

4. There's no Status/Info text when deleting Section
Hm Strange I get a info text about it.. hm XP issue maybe ?

If you really what the risk to shoot your self in the foot. (The hidden panel is still there. you do not see it because the size is 0, but it still there and you can delete/rename/copy files there without seeing what you are doing )

To change it by script at startup

Create a "User defined command" of the type "Internal command" For "module" select "MultiCommander (Base)" and for command select "0/100" (or 100/0)
Then name the command (Lets called it "AutoRunMe") and save it.

Create a shortcut to MultiCommander.exe (or edit existing one) and add commandline paramter "-AutoRun=AutoRunMe"

Now the command AutoRunMe will be run at startup.

BUT do not blame me if you accidentally do something in the hidden panel.

Are there plans to eventually make it a paid version? Or at least a way to make a voluntary contribution to the effort? Now that I've found this I just can't bear the thought it not going forward and being discontinued or falling by the wayside like NFM was.

There is not plans to go to paid version anytime soon. The marked is to small, and it would require to much administration and commitments.

I use this program a lot my self and I got a long list of things I want to add so MC will be around for sometime.

Beta Releases / Multi Commander v3.0
« on: December 27, 2012, 12:45:42 »
Multi Commander v3.0 is planned to be out at the end of Januari.

v3.0 will not contain any new major features. However a lot of work will be done under the hood. (It will contain bug fixes and improvement of exists features)

* MultiCommander will be moved to be built with VisualStudio 2012 using the platform toolset "V110-XP"
* Some resources like icons (and some other ) will be moved out of MultiCommander.exe and places in resource dll. This will for example allow users to easier customize and replace all the icons if they wish.
* Language system will be updated. The language files will still exists as today, but they will be stored in another way and will be named different.
also the built in language editor might get some changes.
* How and where some configuration are stored. Some configuration will be split, some joined.
* Clean up of the SDK API so that can be released.
* + bug fixes and improvements

So most of the work for v3.0 is under the hood to prepare it for the future and future features.

I will not provide beta version of 3.0 under the normal automatic beta upgrade process. Since some of the changes that are coming are breaking change for the settings and in the beginning it will not be able to upgrade the configuration automatically.

So instead I will provide links here to betas of the portable version. (Only portable, so that is does not changes any settings for the normal version)
So when the alphas/beta are starting to come out. Please test them and let me know if there are any problems.

No.. to change actual number of buttons you have to tweak the multibuttons.xml file manually
