Hello Mathias,
Sometimes, for whatever reason, I have to abort a big copy action somewhere in the middle.
At a later point I select the same data and perform a normal copy action. It encounters the same files and wants to overwrite, and I select "skip all".
It races over all the files already copied, and starts copying the remaining files.

However, it does count all the skipped files as being copied in this "session" and so the average transfer speed is very high, and the time remaining is underestimated.

I would suggest that not including skipped files in speed calculations/time estimations is more realistic.

I have no idea if this is an easy thing to change, of if it has far reaching consequences, in which case it would probably not be worth the effort for this minor improvement.

Thanks for all your work,
exo

Always sort folders alphabetically.
Its a while since i did a clean install but i believe this is off by default right now.

I do think this is a highly personal preferance and there are reasons to set the default either way, but thats the first one i change.

inline rename Ctrl issue gone in new build

ADDED - Pressing Ctrl+N / Ctrl+E while in inline rename mode the name part or extension part will be selected
ADDED - Pressing Ctrl+U / Ctrl+L while in inline rename mode the name will be change to all uppcase or lowercase

I think I am experiencing something wrong with the way this is implemented.
After using the Ctrl+ functions MC sticks in that mode. So pressing "e" (no ctrl) to change the newly selected extention text will keep selecting the extention instead of typing an "e". I have to press Ctrl (no letter) again to be able to type an "e".
This is very counter intuitive, as one of the things you want to do right after selecting Name or Extention is type new text to replace the selected text.

You are absolutely right, i'm very sorry.

I was working on old info:
http://forum.multicommander.com/forum/index.php/topic,722.0.html
i must have missed it in the changlog.

Thanks!

The  most obvious/ugly issue for me is the customization of the size of the button bar, apart from manually editing multibuttons.xml.

I was not up to date, sorry.

"Folders can be forced to be sorted by name."

Does not work on network drives. It does lock the sorting of folders, but there not alphabetical.
Only folders that i manually set to alphabetical before i turn the setting on remain sorted correctly, but when i then navigate to any other folder, the sort is wrong.
Might be that you see a cached result. A refresh might be needed.

After the 1348 update it looks fine now, or it was the cache... anyway :)

Ive seen this. It seems like pressing F2 works better then the refresh button.
But ive not had the time to investigate more thoughroughly

The clear button removes the fuction of the button, but it does not remove the button, no?
Is there a way to use the button editor to get only a single row of buttons instead of 4?

(clear.jpg = screenshot with the bottom row of buttons cleared, manual.jpg is with edit of the xml file)

(i think my forum search before posting was accidentally only for the support and feedback section)

yeah, i got confused for a second too. A command with no visible response (when dir = empty) will always make me question if the command has actually been executed.

« on: December 26, 2012, 23:06:38 »
hi,
MC can be used to delete to recycle bin, but is there a way to go to the recyle bin to restore files within MC?
i can navigate to the hidden dir on the disk, but filenames are different there.

Support and Feedback / small button bar

hi,
new to multi commander.
I love the customability of the button bar in itself, but there are a lot of buttons on there some i will never use, and i cannot figure out how to remove some buttons.
is there a way? i can clear its fuction, but the screen real estate remains.
perhaps it would be possible to have a few configs to choose from. (perhaps not a programmed feature, but some downloadable config files?)

cheers,
