Yes that can happens.
Windows sometimes does not return the drive info of disconnected drives to MC correct.
It is on my list of issues to investigate..

Is not supported Yet.. But you can get all files and folder from a path in a view by searching for everything at a location.

Hi Guys

Is there a way to stop the functionality where a new tab is opened when your traverse upwards from a path in a locked tab? Should allow the locked tab to change the path upwards?

Kind Regards
Wayne
No that is a bit backwards.. What do you really want to do?  lock a tab to a drive? Then go to the root and lock it there and also enable "Allow subpath change"
Then you can browse around the entire C:\ drive but if you select a another drive a new tabs opens.

hehe no you are not..

But I looks like it is because of your name, the way the path is encoded (you name are in the path) make the decode mess up the last character and say that there are 1 character more then there is. So I think it is some decoder issue that only get trigger in some situations depending on the content it decodes.
So there is some problem with the decoder.

I think it is very unlikely that DropBox is doing anything wrong.
The base64 text is correct.  both of them..
And it is not an unicode issue then nothing would have worked.

Must be some decoding issue with the base64 decoding library I use. It is some third part code that I use, I have not written it my self. But it has not been change so strange that it worked before..

Hmm, this forum doesn't display the extra characters properly.
Ok. But on the file path on disk do not have that extra character at the end ? I guess not.
So the path it gets from host.db with extra character at the end do not match the path on the disk.
So MC do not find the path.

So how do I get MC to remove that from its settings and look for a new location?
MC read the path from host.db, the path in host.db should not have extra characters in it

If I manually go to the Dropbox in MC and copy to the clipboard the path it is the same as the hosts.db.
Do not edit host.db manually.  Maybe reinstall dropbox fixes the host.db
(What is the content of the host.db ? )

Where is the setting stored inside MC?
MC read the path from host.db it is not stored inside MC.

Feature Requests and Suggestions / Re: Hover and Scroll With Mouse
« on: October 14, 2013, 09:11:19 »
The problem is that if the window is not in focus the Mouse Wheel commands are not sent to that Window.
I don't think this will be possible without hooking MC into Core parts of Windows and stealing mouse messages.. But that will not happen since MC will NOT do any aggressive overtaking of Core Windows parts that can cause issues with other programs

The hostd.db did not point to the correct place..

"C:\Users\Grant\Dropbox"
is not the same path as
"C:\Users\Grant\Dropbox"

Question is why that is some extra bytes at the ends. That is why MC can not find the path.

That file might be corrupt or dropbox change maybe changed the format.

Because explorer does not need to find it by it self. Dropbox register it self as a virtual folder for Explorer.
If you look in the host.db file you can decode it at http://www.base64decode.org/ and see what you get

No that is not possible since all toolbars are created dynamically at runtime and it would not be possible to bring them back in the same order if the user rearranged them.

It gets some extra characters at the end.  Maybe dropbox change there format of host.db

It comes from
C:\Users\<your account name>\AppData\Roaming\Dropbox\host.db

And the data in it is base64 decoded..

Support and Feedback / Re: Having a problem with shell context menu
« on: October 14, 2013, 07:17:50 »
Shell context menu are messy. They depend on that all the 3d party programs (All installed shell extensions) plays nice, And if some of them do not do that it messes things up for all.
Also the Profile folders are special and it might be some virtual folder issues too.

I do not think there are any workarounds for it.

Dropbox work..

If you enable AppLog uner core settings and set loglevel to info
You will see in the log window what it goes wrong.

Just toggle standard toolbar on/off again and it will be fixed, or restart MC..

If you have to toggle things on/off and resize and stuff to make it happen then it will probably not be fixed..would require to much to fix it, and it would probably break some other situation.

don't know how that can happen.. I'm not able to reproduce that

3048
I never worked with SMB over OSX.
I used Samba with Linux a lot but never seen that issue there.

If you get timeouts is sounds like network errors.

If you get "File X incomplete" but the file is there and are correct.. correct content and size..
(you can compare two files with Menu > Tools > File Checksum > Compare content of file,
It will compare the select file in the src panel with the selected file in the target panel)
Then it might be some issue with SMB/OSX maybe it say that somethings fails even when it does not.
Might be permission errors. MC tried to make sure the file date of the target file is the same as the source after the data is copied.
( but not sure the error for that would be that it is incomplete..)

It is possible to enable logging in MC and see exactly at what stage it returns an error.
Core Settings > Logging.  and then Ctrl+L to show log window.

Only Skydrive and Dropbox are shown.

GDrive is does not shown up because they do not provide a way get where the location is.
BoxNet and Amazon Cloud I do not support. Never heard of them.. But if anyway can tell me how to identify where the path to them is I can add them.

You mean that the Drivebar is so large so that it get auto arrange on its own line..  Yes then the file commands toolbar flips out. (This is because of some weird  Behavior of a built in UI Component )

There are two solutions for this..

1. Configure the drive bar to not show all of the extra buttons.
Explorer Panel Settings > Layout (tab) > Uncheck button options under "Additional buttons for Special Folders and Devices"

or

2. Configure the drive bar to place it self its own line from the beginning.
Explorer Panel Settings > Layout (tab) > Check the option "Place the drive toolbar on its own line"
