Yes this works not. I never select files in this way, therefore i have never recognized this. Do the focus at the first file, scroll to the last file you want select, press shift and select at the same time the last file in the list and your files are selected. or you use just the right mouse button for selecting. You can drag with the right mouse button over your file list and all this files are selected. Select some files in this way and scroll a bit down and select the next files in this way. The selection of the files from the first page stay.

Batch Creation Date=Modify Date

Today i got alot files with a wrong modify date. I needed to Change File Modify Date, it should be the same like the creation date. This operation worked not with MC. Maybe with a Multiscript. I made it with another Explorer Software.

Thanks, variant with Multiscript type worked

for me also the config with the Custom Commands Type worked. This is strange. It is no difference between this types, this is just a little help for creating such commands.

No it is nothing wrong with the command configuration, it should work. I tested it several times. I made nothing different. Maybe restarting windows sometimes?

I created for testing: "MC.Explorer.Goto PATH="\\Fritz-nas\FRITZ-NAS\FRITZ\voicebox\"" and i used the Hotkey Ctrl+Z because this was the only free.
This works very well.
Do please never use Ctrl+D, this is needed for removing the selection.

Don't forget to assign the new hotkey. Watch that the hotkey in the hotkey list.

I guess the win 10 1803 need every day a restart. After a restart works the jumping between opened windows faster for example. I go not really back to Win XP, but in Windows XP was never a restart for fixing a issue needed, in Win 10 help a restart again for fixing some errors. It seems this is a step back. If you use much thumbnails, test xnview, this use his own thumbnail database, and loading all thumbnails of a folder and if you scroll, they are already loaded, and scrolling is smoother.

The sleepmode, standby, hibernation cause alot problems. Windows XP was a good OS, sometimes i have a dream i going back to Windows XP. Maybe i use in futire the 64 bit Version of Windows XP. It seems Windows 10 gets worse after every update.

The Desktop Paths are:

C:\Users\[yourusername]\Desktop\
C:\Users\Public\Desktop\

The Desktop and other User Content Folders can be moved to another Harddrive. Go to your Userfolder and right Click Contextmenu> Properties> Path, Move Content. This is possible because relative Paths.

I tested the portable version and it works good with it. Then i restarted my 3 MC instances and it worked very well, can't reproduce the error anymore. I use Windows 10 64 bit Version 1803 (Build 17134.48) and always the power safe mode or hibernation. I guess this have to do with it.

check if you got a ContextMenu.xml in C:\Users\[USER]\AppData\Roaming\MultiCommander\Config\  and delete that.

No i have no ContextMenu.xml there. But i used now the Tools menu, and with this it worked perfectly. But the context menu is broken. Maybe this have several reasons.

I see it will be a wrong tool started when using: "Create .MD5 Checksums File" it is starting another tool: "Resize Pictures". Thats strange.

What kind of error. ? That happens ? I cant reproduce any error with it.

My talking about splitting was off topic. The checksum was ok, i used another tool.

But the MC Tool works not, the error message is "failed".

wikipedia_de_all_novid_2018-05.zim                           -     Failed - Failed to save new file : D:\Downloadsneu\Bildung\Wikipedia\Kiwix\Wikipedia\wikipedia_de_all_novid_2018-05_resized.zim

And when i use "Calculate Checksum value from file" happens nothing, no popup dialog will be opened, no cpu usage in background wil be started. This happens with all files, not only with the zim file. No idea why you can't repeat this.

I used the MC Context menu> File Checksum> "Calculate Checksum Value from file" Nothing happens and creating a checksum file gave just a error out.

But i taked another tool for making this checksum. I guess this files have just to be splitted to be used on a 32 bit kiwix. I downloaded it with a android, but this was a file from 17/08.

BC do file copy

It is not off topic. With Folder Sync can you maka a perfect Folder copy. If Folder not exist, it create it (i suggested this for MC already). For Folder Compare are some commands for moving files or copy files. My Android Smartphones do i always syncronizing with BC, and New files from the android which have to be moved to the PC i make with Folder Compare, select teh to move files and CTRL+X. This works perfectly. New Videos and Images or Sound files or other move i with this feature from the Android to the PC. This works with highspeed USB 2.0 full speed. You can also synchronizing your homepage with ftp.......... The sync is not implemented in MC yet and BC is no Freeware, and MC is in other things like Multirename and file exploring very much better.

When multiple instances open and a external HDD is disconnected, MC think sometimes the HDD isnt disconnected. When a Android Smartphone disconnected, MC think it is still connected. When a Android Smartphone reconnected, MC have yet the old links and can't connect to a reconnected Smartphone. But wenn a new file created or a file overwritten in most cases MC recognize it, but sometimes i need to press the refresh button. But the refresh button do not help for Smartphones which are via MTP connected.

For full OS backup then Acronis or other imaginge software are better

Acronis True Image is only so fast when it create its own Backup Files. Direct Copy of Hard Drives i tested a long time not.  But Beyond Compare (I don't know whether talking about is allowed in your forum) is also with creating the filesystem of the copy very much faster. The speed difference can you see when you make a copy of very much small files. When making a copy of Big Files like Videos you can't see any difference. But BC are using more than one CPU Core.

Sorry, but i have to say that the Windows Explorer or Multicommander or any other Commander are not the right Software for doing such a job. They all will need to much time. Therefore i never finshed such a job with MC. I made it always partially until the first question come or until it stop for several reasons and finished it with BC, The fastest Software is Acronis True Image. This use the Full Speed of the Hard Drive for making a Backup. There is no faster Software available and therefore Acronis can give us always alpha versions as final.....

Crtrl+D is by default used for Unselect All. If you want take this Shortcut for another Command, you need first setup a new shortcut for Unselect All i guess.

I have killed this instances and can't reproduce it. Before it happens, i moved some files and folders and after i accidentally deleted a folder (ssd and no recycled.bin on) i made a restore with Acronis true image and because the deleted folder blocked, i closed all MC instances with right click in Win10 taskbar. 2 instances kept staying after this actiion, but could be closed with Alt+F4. Then i made the restore and later i have seen that MC always using CPU und detected taht this Processes running. This was no " minimized to task bar" and no "contantly changing so it it rescanning" and no "gettting Icons". It was just a failure i guess. If it can't be reproduced, is my report senseless. sorry.
