Title: This should be simple, text search within Word doc
Post by: borcherj on August 29, 2015, 20:30:09
I've tried, but a MC search for a text string within Word documents yields nothing. What's the trick?

It would be simple, if xdoc2txt converter would be supported in MC like in other file managers. It helps to find text in most popular office formats rtf; docx; xlsx; pptx; doc; xls; ppt; sxw; sxc; sxi; sxd; odt; ods; odp; odg; pdf; eml.

That is not simple. For that to work MC would need to be able to decode doc/docx  file format. And that along is a project that is as big as MC it self.
There are external tool that will help with it.
Search in MC does not yet support external plugin like xdoc2txt.. (that is not a very good way anyway. there are better way)
