Support and Feedback / Delete zip (after begin scanned) bug?
« on: April 12, 2024, 23:16:14 »
Press enter on a zip file with many files in it.
Press enter on ".." to go one level up again.
Press del on that single zip file.

It takes very long to delete that single zip file and the cpu is high.

Beta Releases / Copy to zip: skip all doesn't work.
« on: April 12, 2024, 22:35:34 »
Select some files and copy them to a zip.
Select the same files and copy them to the same zip file.
A dialog appears with the question whether you want to overwrite the existing file in the destination folder.
Press "skip all".
Instead of skipping all existing files in the destination folder mc will ask the same question for the next file.

It's difficult to select files in folders where many files are being added in the background: the gui starts rereading the files/folders in the map and in some cases the gui even seems to stall.
A dedicated button to temporarly disable the autofolder scan/refresh would help in such cases.

Support and Feedback / Re: Copy to Zip bug?
« on: March 29, 2024, 10:22:29 »
Hi Mathias,

This is the content of the MC log file.

I create a new zip file with the copyto dialog by copying two files and specifying a zip file as destination:
2024-03-29 08:01:57.881 Copied : "D:\Test\a.txt" => "D:\Test\test.zip\a.txt" - 4 bytes in 1ms 0ms Total : 0ms - Average Speed : 4000 bytes/sec (3,9 KB/sec), Read data time 1ms (3,9 KB/sec), Write data time 1ms (3,9 KB/sec)
2024-03-29 08:01:57.882 Copied : "D:\Test\b.txt" => "D:\Test\test.zip\b.txt" - 4 bytes in 1ms 0ms Total : 0ms - Average Speed : 4000 bytes/sec (3,9 KB/sec), Read data time 1ms (3,9 KB/sec), Write data time 1ms (3,9 KB/sec)

I try to add two files to the existing zip file with the copyto dialog (i get an error dialog):
2024-03-29 08:02:06.407 Unable to open target file : D:\Test\test.zip\c.txt ( Error code : 10, Internal Error Code : 3)
2024-03-29 08:02:06.407 Handle file Operations error : 10 (3) - File/Folder already exists

I opened and closed the zip file with mc and then try again to add two files to the existing zip file with the copyto dialog (it works):
2024-03-29 08:02:17.489 Copied : "D:\Test\c.txt" => "D:\Test\test.zip\c.txt" - 4 bytes in 1ms 0ms Total : 0ms - Average Speed : 4000 bytes/sec (3,9 KB/sec), Read data time 1ms (3,9 KB/sec), Write data time 1ms (3,9 KB/sec)
2024-03-29 08:02:17.490 Copied : "D:\Test\d.txt" => "D:\Test\test.zip\d.txt" - 4 bytes in 1ms 0ms Total : 0ms - Average Speed : 4000 bytes/sec (3,9 KB/sec), Read data time 1ms (3,9 KB/sec), Write data time 1ms (3,9 KB/sec)

Are you able to recreate this issue?

Support and Feedback / Re: Zip performance
« on: March 26, 2024, 20:12:58 »
However there are some optimization added in the coming version. (14.x) It will load a large zip faster.
Thank you!

Also if the zip is missing its content catalogue at the end of the file
I created the archive with multicommander; I don't know whether multicommander adds a content catalogue at the end of the file.

I have send you an email with more info.

When I want to add a few small files to an existing zip which contains a lot of small files (+200.000) a "copy to" dialog box appears but nothing seems to happen.
I waited 30 minutes and the copy process wasn't yet started.

Support and Feedback / Copy to zip: unknown error 87
« on: March 25, 2024, 19:06:19 »
I select some files press F5 and enter in the dialog box the path to an existing zip file.
Exceptionally I get a dialog box with the error message "unknown error 87".
If I try to add those files to the same zip file with another tool I get no error message.

What could be the reason for the "unknown error 87"?

Select some files and press F5.
Enter in the "Copy files to.." edit box the filepath of a zip file and press enter (the selected files don't exists in the archive).
In several occasions I get a dialogbox with the question whether I want to overwrite the target file (the size is 0 bytes).

If I first open and close the zip file with multicommander and then execute the same steps multicommander adds the files to the archive.

Feature Requests and Suggestions / find files: boolean operators
« on: September 20, 2020, 23:07:56 »
Find files dialog: add the ability to use boolean operators when searching for file content.

for example: match file content: (keyword1 OR keyword2) and keyword3

11
In the copy/move files dialog it's now possible to enter wildcards as filters but would it be possible to make the option available to select a "saved search" as a file filter ?

This would give for example the ability to copy/move only files with a certain content or within a certain date range.

12
An option in the copy/move dialog box whether the folder structure needs to be copied.

If you want to copy all images from an sd card to your hard drive you just have to select the sd card, enter a file filter (*.jpg for example) and all images in alle underlying folders are copied to the destination folder on the hard drive.

Name collisions are now already handled by the copy/move process.

Support and Feedback / Trailing text in files after crash
« on: June 03, 2020, 17:12:05 »
MC v9.7 build 2590

Multiple separated copy processes where busy when mc crashed.
After the crash I noticed that some files at the destination folders where larger than the source file.
I appeared that those files in the destination folders had the same content as the source file with some trailing text behind the end.

What could be the reason for this ?

Support and Feedback / Unknown Error (0:80)
« on: June 03, 2020, 16:58:41 »
MC v9.7 build 2590

When moving files I sometimes get a dialog box with the error message: "Unknown Error (0:80)"
After pressing "Retry" the program continues to move the files.

What could be the reason for this error ?

15
MC v9.7 x64 build 2590

I had the same problem.
I started multiple copy processes and one of them ended with "100% completed - copying files" in the title of the dialog (in the progressbar the text "100%", "File copy/move is completed" is visible) but the buttons "Skip", "Pause" and "Abort" are still visible.  The queue is empty but when i try to close the dialog I get the message "abort file copying ?"  Clicking on "Yes" or "No" makes no difference, the dialog doesn't close.

I will try to find a way to reproduce it.

Support and Feedback / copy/move questions
« on: July 21, 2019, 00:19:02 »
small glitches:

1)
It isn't possible to abort a copy/move while it is preparing.
The program only stops after the preparing is done.
In normal situations preparing takes almost no time but with a large amount of files on a remote disk preparing can take minutes and in those cases it would be nice if the program would stop immediately after pressing the abort button.

2)
While it is preparing the title of the dialog is "Copying.." even if you select a move operation.

3)
When I want to copy files from different locations the program first asks whether I want to "recreate source folder structure to avoid collisions" or "merge all source files into the same target location" and then shows the copy/move dialogbox.
Would it be possible to integrate this question in the copy/move dialogbox (for example a checkbox which ask whether to keep the relative paths) ?

Beta Releases / MC v8.9 build 2528: CTRL+T
« on: July 20, 2019, 23:55:50 »
When in a panel only one tab is present and in that tab a search is running (RESn:) it isn't possible to switch to another drive as long as that search is running.

You can duplicate a tab but that new tab also points to RESn: with the active search.
You can select another drive in the dropdownlistbox of the running search but nothing changes.

Could it be possible to change this behavior so it becomes possible to switch to another drive in a tab where a search is running ?

Beta Releases / MC v8.9 build 2528: 0 found files
« on: July 20, 2019, 23:33:43 »
Press Alt+F7 to start a search which takes a long time to run (for example start a search from c:\ and look for all .exe files) and list the results in RES1:.
Close the dialog.
In the RES1: tab you will see that the amount of files and folders found increases.
Press CTRL+T to duplicate the RES1: tab.
In the second RES1: tab the amount of files and folders found always stays 0.

Beta Releases / MC v8.9 build 2528: crash
« on: July 20, 2019, 23:15:00 »
Press ALT+F7 and start a search which takes a long time.
Close the "find files" dialog and press pause.
"Search is paused" appears.
If you now close the tab the program doesn't respond anymore.
If you close MC instead of closing the tab you get a crash.

Beta Releases / MC v8.9 (build 2500)
« on: April 02, 2019, 22:54:07 »
Problem:
1)
- Start in the right panel a search which takes a long time and list result in RES1
- Close/hide search config window
- Select in the left panel RES1 -> the text "A filesystem scan is already running for this path..." appears
- Select in the same panel C: again -> I expected to see the files from C:\ but the text "A filesystem scan is already running.." stays on the screen

2)
- Start in the right panel a search which takes a long time and list result in RES1
- Close/hide the search config window
- Click in the right panel where the search is running on the x to close the RES1 panel
- The gui blocks (till the search ends ?) and then the panel is closed but the text "Searching.." (bottom right) is still shown

3)
- Start in the right panel a search and list result in RES1
- When that search has ended make a few duplicates of the RES1 tab with ctrl+T
- Now start a new long running search and list result in RES1
- In the existing RES1 panels no text is shown that a filesystem scan is running.
- Press ctrl+T again on a RES1 panel, in the new RES1 panel the text "scanning filesystem.." is shown
- Press ctrl+T again on a RES1 panel, in the new RES1 panel the text "A filesystem scan is already running.." appears

Wishlist:
- start/pause/stop button while the search is running
- button to open then search config like in the previous search panel
- multiple searches simultaneous would be nice to have

Support and Feedback / copy/move: Preparing
« on: September 26, 2018, 22:33:58 »
When a lot of files are selected for copying, a dialog is shown with the text "preparing" before the actual copy process starts.

This "preparing" takes sometimes as much time as the actual copy process.

What is the program doing at that moment ?

ps: Thx for the great program !
