Support and Feedback / Re: Crash upon opening Multicommander
« on: August 05, 2016, 19:58:58 »
OK.  I've been able to reproduce this (several times).

Steps to reproduce:

1 Create a folder D:\Audio with several folders of audio files (some .mp3, some .flac)
2 Unzip a brand new MC x64 portable into a new, empty directory (C:\Temp)
3 One tab in each panel. One rooted at C:\, one rooted at D:\Audio
4 Add column "Total Length" to the D:\Audio tab
5 Browse the audio files (including select/unselect/get properties) - no problem
6 Hit Tab to move to the other panel (C:\) fatal crash - no error report sent
7 In addition, most of the MC Config folder was trashed (to be expected, I guess)

See screenshots attached.

Without wishing to patronise in any way, it is probably worth running a malware scan and SFC.

mswsock is very often targeted by malware.

Odd.  According to Dependency Walker, neither MultiUpdate2.exe nor MultiCommander.exe call mswsock.dll... ???

OK - still playing sleuth here to give Mathias a break ;)

What software do use to do the conversion (it's still possible that the converted files have something wrong with them)?

Are you confident that video files also cause the crash?

Replying to my own post, but...

Response time from multicommander.com seems to be back to normal.  Hosting issue, perhaps?

My focus is where it is supposed to be.

Wasn't "focus" one of your problems with the previous release, too  ;D  ;D

If you didn't delete so many folders, Mathias would not have to work so hard on his vacation ;D

Hi Mathias.

I can confirm that the "delete & focus" issue is fixed in 2233.  And nothing else seems to be broken (so far).

To few people are testing the beta version I think.
FWIW, I tested the betas as thoroughly as I could.  Not well enough it seems.  So I have set up a dedicated test area on my PC here & I am putting together a test regime including regression testing (based on earlier releases).  Perhaps I will be of more help in the future.

I am happy to become an "official" beta-tester and to devote more time to testing, if that willl help.

Hi Ulf.

I just spotted that myself.  Annoying, isn't it?

And yes, the whole of multicommander.com is very slow...

Susan,
what format are these audio files: MP3? FLAC? Something else? A mix...?

I can live with that :)

Support and Feedback / MultiRename Hotkey
« on: August 03, 2016, 14:39:06 »
Not sure if this belongs in Feature Requests, but...

It would be really useful to be able to assign a hotkey to Extensions -> MultiRename, but I cannot find the entry in keyboard customization.

Is it not there, or am I having (another) senior eyesight day?

TIA

Hi Susan.

Does the crash only happen when you have a panel tab open that is listing audio files?

If so, what device are the files on (HDD, SSD, USB, Portable, etc.)?

Can you close all the tabs that do reference audio, close MC, restart MC (assuming you have it set to save open tabs on shutdown) and see if it crashes just looking at "non-audio" files?  I can't test this because I have no audio collections.

Right-click on the column header in any Explorer panel, click "Add column," then select "Standard - Attrib" from the list.

Matthias, can you provide a screenshot of the "duplicate folder" problem?

341
Confirmed as fixed in 2225.

Well done Mathias - you are certainly having a very productive vacation ;)

...It is the "/" that causing the problems...

I see (I should have spotted that).  That's a toughie!

There are around 5,000 registry keys with that format (mostly M$ keys).

If you find time, please give it some thought (I do have a workaround though - not important).

Support and Feedback / Problem with REG: and MozillaPlugins Key
« on: July 31, 2016, 17:03:58 »
Using the REG: virtual filesystem and the key HKLM\Software\MozillaPlugins, none of the subkeys can be opened.  Regedit is OK with them.

They all begin with '@' (e.g. @adobe.com/FlashPlayer), so I guess that's the problem.

My bad - I forgot to extract the *_def.xml files from the portable zip ::)

From the 6.4 RC Notes:

(Note : If you have issues, You can in settings enable the old filesystem scanning engine)

I cannot find this setting anywhere...

346
All understood.  Yeah, tricky...

Maybe queue the folder creation & allow the rename ("virtual" folder created) then check before initiating the scan?

I know - that is not how folder creation currently works... :(

But it is a PITA.

347
I never use the context menu either, which is why I forgot to test in Beta; sorry  ::)

But "tricky" != "impossible" ;)

348
Confirmed :-(

Tools -> Create Folder works OK, as does the hotkey.

Translations And Language Packs / Re: Language Changes 6.2> 6.4
« on: July 27, 2016, 23:19:56 »
I guessed something like that might be the case.

I have started to look at "sanitizing" the language files - much as I did with the documentation - that's how I found the anomalies.

When will you be ready (best guess) to release the RC as the final release, do you think?
