Support and Feedback / CONFIG parameter issues
« on: April 07, 2015, 20:55:34 »
Hello

I try the new parameter CONFIG of the setup program. I found  some minor issues:

1) The documencation is not updated: http://multicommander.com/docs/Installation

2) The Button Window is enabled even if it is disabled in applied config.

3) The tips at startup are enabled even if they are disabled in applied config.

How I did the test:
The applied config is backuped from the same version of MC (5.1 b1922).
I installed MC for the first time with the CONFIG parameter on another computer.

Thank you very much.

I tried to download MultiCommander_x64_(5.1.0.1917).exe from beta folder but I have a 404 error.

Hello

I would like a command line parameter in the MC's setup program to set default options.

Implementation example:
On computer A:
- I export my settings from MC,
- the file "MultiCommander_ConfigBackup.zip" is created.
On computer B:
- I want to install MC on computer B,
- I execute this command:
Code: [Select]
setup.exe /default-settings:MultiCommander_ConfigBackup.zip- I launch MC and I have my settings applied on computer B.

Feature Requests and Suggestions / Re: Default Settings
« on: August 08, 2014, 22:45:48 »
I was going to give my settings but I realize we have each own settings.

Would be better to set default settings in setup program as command line parameters or ini file?

My settings for example:
1. Shift+F6 = rename. (because of TC)
2. Ctrl+< = go to root. (because of AZERTY keyboard)
3. Tab panel = top.
4. Do not show hidden files by default
5. Sort files by extensions
6. Pack/Unpack to target
7. Hide all buttons bars
8. Left Arrow = change input focus to command line
9. Minimize to tray instead of closing
etc

All standard dialog are navigated by pressing tab key. (standard windows behavior)
Yes tab key is ok but sometimes the button is too far ;)

Cltr+Return starts search.
Good.

Ctrl+A that is because that is the shortcut to activate attributes search..
Ok I just understand Ctrl activates the feature (attribute, content, etc) and Alt is for the corresponding control.
I'm not sure it is a good idea to use the Ctrl modifier because of ctrl+a +c +v shortcuts but I understand the choice.

Ctrl+W works. just make sure the dialog is closed first with escape (standard windows behavior)
Good.

Feature Requests and Suggestions / Keyboard friendly
« on: July 29, 2014, 09:26:21 »
Hello

I use MC with keyboard only (no mouse) because of speed but MC is not optimized for keyboard:

- Find Files: "Look for" and "Look in" editboxes have not shortcut.
- Find Files: Start, stop, clear, close, etc buttons have not shortcut.
- Find Files: ctrl+a doesn't select all text in "File content".
- File search: ctrl+w doesn't close the tab.
- Pack Files: no shortcuts for buttons and editboxes.
- Main menu: no shortcuts in sub-menus
etc

Tested version: 4.4 build 1725 (32 bits)
OS: Windows 8.1 32 bits
Language: english

Hello
For Linux (GUI) I suggest Double Commander: http://doublecmd.sourceforge.net
But MC is more configurable.
