No, FTP log is not disabled: It gets active when having clicked the FTP symbol in the explorer window.

Hallo,
I hadn't used MC for a while and when starting it now it asked for update. I confirmed, the update ran and everything seemed to be fine but when I click a user defined button that connects to an FTP site the site is not opened. If I double click the FTP symbol in the explorer window it connects fine, thus the settings seem to be OK. I had used the button editor and used the following multiscript code:

I agree. Therefore I considered to program a conditional action "open in internal viewer if viewer is open". Additonally opening could be limited to images. But unfortunately I found no way to query whether the internal viewer is open nor a way to open a file in the viewer. "open file" obviously opens a file in the windows viewer and creates a new instance every time.

Pitty! I meant this in the mouse settings:

It translates: "Left mouse button" - "User defined mouse command #1".
I hoped that it would be possible to program something like "Open in viewer when viewer is open" for single click.

thanks for this info.

change that click should be open/execute

I'm afraid that this would result in the same reaction as double click, i. e. that an exe file would be executed at single click. Am I right?
However in the settings for single click I find "user defined mouse action #1". Would it be possible to assign "open in viewer" in this way for single click? Unfortunately I don't know how to define a user defined mouse action.

Hallo,
I've just started using the button editor. Worked fine so far but I stuck at one point: I need to set the explorer panels to their initial configuration, the same I load at startup with -F="d:\mypath\multicommander.ini". I tried the command
MC.LoadTabs FILENAME="d:\mypath\multicommander.ini"
but this didn't work. Obviously the format of this file is not the required one. Can anyone give me a hint?

thanks for the advice. Yes, I meant the log view for the ftp. I have a german version and didn't find this in the docu.

Your posting pointed me into the right direction and for my initial intention I didn't need a script. I could address my FTP sites by their bookmarks in my ini file as well:

Some image/file explorers, e. g. Faststone Image Viewer or Directory Opus, feature a docked file viewer and the images are opened by single click. I would appreciate if the file viewer of Multi Commander could be docked and files could be opened by single click.

In the meantime I found in the docu how to define user commands. I used this for opening an FTP site:

@var $ftp = FTPConnect("ulrichbangert.de");
It works so far but unfortunately it doesn't open the the site in an explorer panel but in the FTP panel below, so that I cannot navigate through the site.

Hallo,
I would appreciate if it was possible to open an FTP connection by the command line so that I can create shortcuts on my desktop for my FTP sites.
I tried -R=FTP:\<site name> but this didn't work. My host name is equal to my site name.

I would like to suggest that the filename in the thumbnail view is extended to up to three lines as Windows Explorer does it. Currently there is only one line and as I use verbose filenames they are not readable in the thumbnail view.

Hallo,
today I found a file named MultiCommander_x64_(4.6.2.1804).exe on my computer; it's date is 2014-12-10. On the other hand on Multicommander's website version 5.1.1 is offered for download. I installed from the a. m. 4.6.2 file but when I started MC it said that there is a newer version and installed 5.1.1. What's the explanation for this?

In the thumbnail-list view longer filenames are not readable as there is one line only. I would like to have it like Windows Explorer where up to three lines are displayed. Is this configurable? Didn't find it yet.

I've deleted the config folder and afterwards the settings, e. g. colors, had their initial values. I choosed "windows explorer style" at first start. But copying/moving files by holding the ctrl/shift key doesn't work. The behaviour is the same as before.

Do you have any system wide hotkeys tool or anything else that maybe can steal the keys presses ?

Yes, I have Ashampoo Snap but this uses the function keys only. In the original windows explorer drag and drop works fine.
Seems to be a problem of the configuration. I changed some settings and then it worked. But unfortunately I had to restore my OS and it got lost. Restoring a saved version of the config file didn't help. Can you provide a config file where it works? Will the config file be sufficient or does MC store settings in the registry. Or is there a way to set the settings to there initial values?

Hallo,
I have a problem when I switch the display to thumbnail list view and when there are many photos so that there is a scrollbar at the right: Usually I can click in the empty spaces in the scrollbar and then the display moves for one page. But in MC the display doesn't move for one page but e. g. when I click in the lower space the display skips to the bottom. To avoid this I have to click the arrow four times but this is annoying.
Hope I've choosen the correct words. English is not my mother tongue, I use the german version of MC.

Hallo,
I reinstalled MC and the problem still exists. I could locate it a little more precisely: Only when the file is selected when the dragging is started, it doesn't work. When it is not, everything works fine.

Disabling the auto expanding of folder trees is a great feature

I do not agree. In Win XP I liked this feature and was sad, that it was removed in Win 7. After having found MC I was glad to have it back! If it would be disabled, this should be configurable in the settings.

thank you for your answer. Yes I tried it: I first pressed the Ctr/Shift key and then clicked and dragged the file and then it didn't work. After reading your post I tried again and found out that I have to first klick the file and then press the Ctrl/Shift key. If I do it in this order, it works fine. However, I would appreciate if both worked!

I would appreciate if it would be possible to copy/move files by dragging with Ctr/Shift key held down the same way as it is possible in Windows Explorer. Some times I find this faster than opening the destination in the other window.
