Support and Feedback / Re: Shortcut (Win 10)

But for a "shortcut .lnk" you need a target and (!) a name. Only one name can be used in the MC - shortcut.lnk, because the target is greyed out (see "Example_2.jpg"). In contrast to Windows shortcut.lnk.

Therefore I have described the way how it is possible to create a working link in MC at all.

Windows has no problem with this. I have never seen this behavior in Windows Explorer or any other file manager. I have used many file managers over the last 30 years.

The shortcut is completely without any functionality.

I have tried Tools > File Links - Create (In the Menu):

The Windows link can be created in a very cumbersome way using this functionality:
1.) Assuming that it works at all: A file must be marked (-> "Example_1.jpg").
2.) First, the symbolic link must be selected ("A") to set a link to this thread, for example ("Example_2.jpg").
3.) Then you have to change to "B" ("Example_3.jpg") and only then execute it. This will then create a *.lnk file that refers to this thread.

This behaviour is - just similar to the dead functionality of the "shortcut" - very far away from the Windows standard behaviour.

In Windows it works like this by default:
1.) New link (Win_Example_2.jpg)
2.) Insert the target (Win_Example_2.jpg)
3.) Assign name (Win_Example_3.jpg)

Hello,

the shortcut in WIN10 is still without any function. Every shortcut is dead. It is not possible to generate or to insert any kind of path. See attachments.

Support and Feedback / Windows shortcut (url)
« on: December 28, 2018, 19:44:04 »
Hello,

in the view pane, when I right-click to bring up the context menu, and then bring up the submenu, I see "Shortcut". I wonder why I cannot generate "windows-shortcuts", which are normally in this submenu.

I am not able to generate these files with MC. To be clear, I will show the steps I do on the windows desktop with explorer to generate these files:

1.) Attachment 1: Windows submenu -> Shortcut (in german "Verknüpfung"). This is different to windows explorer submenu!

2.)  Attachment 2: Paste an url or use a path to any kind of file

3.) Attachment 3: The file named "MuliCommander" is moved into a window of MC. Here I see it as "MuliCommander.url"

Thanks a lot!

Regards
Thomas
