drag drop unselect

i would like to adress a drag drop problem (which has been adressed on this forum )

i am very often draging files manually to an viewer, the file becomes selected and to view the next file, i first need to deselect the previous, otherwise, i drag two files

is there a way to configure drag action not to select?
