Active panel background colour

Hi!

I wonder if it is possible to have one background colour for the active panel
and another colour for the inactive.

If so, how to set this colours!

Yes

Menu > Configuration > Explorer Panel Settings > Colors (Tabs)
You can configure background color for active and inactive panel so they are different.
