How to migrate user defined commands
(1/1)
ajax:
No doubt what I like most about Multicommander is the ability to create my own user defined commands. I also prefer to use the portable versions of Multicommander because this make it easy to try a new version and verify it works as expected before doing any harm to a prior version. My guess is that I'm not the only one.
A problem I'm having occurs when installing a new release, which is quite easy, I want to also migrate my scripts (i.e., User Defined Commands) to the new version. I haven't figured out how to do that other than by reinstalling them. In that, redoing much of the original work involved in producing the those commands.
I hoping there might be an easier way that someone could help me to learn.

All the UDC scripts are located in Config\Scripts\ the upgrade tool should not delete them.
How do you upgrade to new version ?
ajax:
I use USB drives to run most of the application software that I use in portable fashion. Therefore, I extract the application software (i.e., Multicommander ) from the zip archive to a new folder used for the new version of Multicommander (MC). In that, leave prior versions completely unchanged.
My User Defined Commands (UDCs) are located in a folder called "MyScripts" which I do see is located in Config/Scripts. When I copied that to the new version of Multicommander (MC) it does look like they show up in the new version which does solve a good bit of my problem.
However, I also customize the menu with an item named "Mine" which is used to invoke the UDCs. Is there a similar capability for adding it to the newly installed version of MC?

MultiCommanders update tool will update the portable setup. It will not delete or overwrite anything it should not.
If you want to migrate manually.. then copy everything in Config/* from your current portable to the new portable.
