5 new features
« on: October 12, 2012, 20:25:11 »
I've five suggestions even though some of these might already be available and I haven't simply figured them out yet.
  • Preview image: make it resizable. Currently it's possible to resize the window but the image doesn't resize accordingly.
  • Keep the folders on the server persistent across multiple sessions. If I open a folder on the server and then I close MC, at the next start MC shows a local folder instead of the folder on the server previously open.
  • Would be useful to assign two shortcuts to delete files: a delete command to move the file to the recycle bin (maybe with the Delete key), and a wipe command to wipde the files from the hard drive (maybe F8 key)
  • Assign folder order globally. I like to keep the folder order by date even though when I open a new tab the order is by name.
  • It's currently possible to export the keyboard configuration but is not possible to import it as we can do with the Core and Explorer configurations.

1. Picture Viewer or do you mean Thumbnails ?
If Picture Viewer, Then no it does not auto resize when resizing size, And it is by design since it flickers to much.. But pressing Ctrl+0 will zoom image to window

2. Explorer Panel Settings, First tab at the bottom "Save on exit", Uncheck "Save only paths to local harddrive"

3. You can do that with script command and assign to hotkey. But delete file without question will not be a default action. to much risk that users messup.

4. Ctrl+F4 will sort by the 4th column. Do not think there will be a global default for it. You can do a script that opens new tab and set sorting for you.

5. The keyboard export will generate an output list for you what all your keys, It is not a backup feature..
For backup/replace use the Backup/Restore under help menu or copy the file CustomKeymappings.xml manually.

Ad.3.: You don't need to assign a new key. Use default key for deleting withouth a recycle bin: shift+delete. (edit: I forgot to mention: this is a key from Windows, not MC).
