only way im know its user defined commands(Go to view filter)
after click on button/use hotkey filter will be selected so filter will be cleared by pressing any key

but here already too much buttons and hotkeysxD
may be small button VERY NEAR(cuz user defined buttons too far) filter view will clear text and focus
or better add option like in subject

ps
only in Multi Commander im seen default filter view = *.*

Explorer Panel Settings > Layout (tab)
[.] Reset filter to *.* when changing path

This will reset the view folder when leaving a path

I don't understand what you want..

*.* is the same as "" (empty)

Ctrl+F , write new filter, return, done,.

I think potato means you have to clear (empty) the filter field before you can type something. So press Ctrl+F, do Backspace to clear the field, type your filter, return.
But what I'm seeing here is that after pressing Ctrl+F *.* is selected so no need to clear anything. You can just start typing and the *.* will be replaced by the first character you type.

nope
empty mean if you write coolprogram in view filter
its will find supercoolprogram and coolprogramawesome and supercoolprogramawesome

and if im only add to default filter view *.*
its will become *.*coolprogram
and it dont will find anything

about ctrl+f im quote yourself

but here already too much buttons and hotkeysxD
and im used already ctrl+f for global search
