Invert selection

I think that you should disable remember selection. (Explorer Panel Settings > Remember selected files/Folders when changing path)
Because I think that feature and jumping back to a previous location using explorer styled setup can come into conflict with each other a bit.
I will test and see if that can be fixed so it works better during Explorer Styled setup.

Was updating as you posted...  I have tried this Remember selected files/Folders when changing path setting with no effect on this behaviour
It will probably be OK for you tho!  :D

I have discovered that using <go up> instead of <go back> resolves this situation.
Hopefully that shows something about what the 'back' routine is doing when it has persistent selections etc.

Okey..

Btw what do yo mean with "go back" ? there are many way to go back...

  Clicking on ".." item
  Pressing <- arrow button
  Pressing back button on mouse
  Pressing back button on Keyboard
  Clicking on the parent folder in the path field
  Pressing Backspace key
  Pressing "Go up" button above the path field. (guess to is the "Go Up" you  say you switch to ? )
  ... other way I forgot about..
