"Portable Device" on USB not seen

plugger:
Using Version 3.1 Build 1401 64-bit
Windows 7 Home Premium

When I connect a camera to USB, MC does not see it, presumably because Windows does not give it a drive letter.
Microsoft Windows Explorer sees the camera, with no drive letter.  It shows the camera as a "Portable Device" in the Computer listing.

I believe this is the same as noted in "xcyclone on February 25, 2013, 17:41:36"

Is there a way to make USB Portable Devices visible in MC?

MC only see devices that get attached as a normal filesystem and get assigned a device letter.
