Feature Requests and Suggestions / Re: Lynx-like motion
« on: January 11, 2020, 17:51:01 »
Thanks a lot! it works!

Any chance this could be built-in in the future release as an option? or at least as pre-defined "user defined commands"?
thank you!

Feature Requests and Suggestions / Re: Lynx-like motion

+1 on this
my posts both in "support and feedback"
http://forum.multicommander.com/forum/index.php/topic,3529.0.html
and in "feature requests"
http://forum.multicommander.com/forum/index.php/topic,3585.0.html

Currently it is not possible to even have this setup manually as there is no keyboard action in mapper to "enter directory".

I would like to change to "lynx-like" movement in MC, but I am unable to map any key to "open folder" action as there is no such thing in the keyboard mapper.
Can you please add this so users can use left-right arrows to navigate the folder tree?
thank you

I already discussed this here

can this be moved to the feature request forum? thx
(since apparently there is no such feature at the moment)

thank you!

I think it is just laziness and less hand movement... I use up-down arrow keys anyway and left-right feels very natural to use for "go up one level" or "go down one level" . (instead of raising hand and reaching for enter or even backspace!!!) it is one of those things that one gets used to it in 5 minutes and does not want to go back.

BUMP

+ question - anyone know how to assign different key instead of "return" to the basic "open" task?

can this be included into some next release please?
thank you!!!

Hi,
I often use MidnightCommander on linux in terminal/putty and what I really love that makes work faster is one of the options that is called "lynx-like" controls. (something along the lines).
When enabled one can use left arrow to go to parent folder and right arrow to open highlighted folder. It is much faster than use backspace and enter.
I was trying to use this similar way in MultiCommander (which is my preferred commander on windows) and I can setup the command "Go to parent folder (up)" in Keyboard customization, module "Explorer Panel" and Module Specific commands view...
I was however unable to find any place to assign right arrow instead (or have both) to open current folder. Maybe I'm just blind or do not know the exact spelling.

Can anyone help to guide me here? Or is there such option already available in settings? didn't find it myself.
thx

thanks for the tip!
I assigned it to alt+down instead of the history feature. The only "issue" it still appears at one place in upper left corner for both panels.

Hi Mathias,
first of all, thanks for great application - I use it at home and also recommend to colleagues who I know are using dual panel managers.

I have a small feature request - currently there is only 1 history button for whole program. It can be invoked via alt+down, but it mixes up the folders from both panels. At work I use FC, as it is approved for internal use (I work in multinational so I cannot just install what I want - lots of rules to follow....). Anyway - in FC there are separate history buttons for each panel, which for me at least is more user friendly.

It could be left from the "show/hide folder tree" button or in the same area, and clicking the button or hitting alt+down would show the history list from that specific panel. Currently when I'm in the right panel, clicking alt+down opens the menu on the upper left side, which takes away focus from the panel...

I know there is per-panel history available when you hold down the "back" button - still there is only 1 button in upper left corner and is not easily accessible by keyboard (must grab mouse and to allthe way to upper left....)

Probably the same could be done with bookmarks/favorites button.

Thank you for consideration :)
