Ok no problem, we discovered the issue ...
So I could install the latest beta ...

2
I do not get any results! Please look attached.
My MC v. is 3.2.1 b.1432

3
I did. On your example, I see that you are not looking in sub-folders too.

Please, repeat the same example searching from the root (C:\). Can you get the results? I cannot.

If you mean the default video and music folder for the user account then yes. They will be added.

Yes, that I mean! Thanks.

Ok thanks I understand, yes I know the Favorite list.

However, I would suggest that you add there "Videos" and "Music" because that are two really needed folders! Thanks.

6
I'm trying this: ((?!\.avi).)*$

In the Video folder there are several video formats (avi, mp4, wmv, ...), but it returns no results. Why?

Support and Feedback / Custom libraries link
« on: August 21, 2013, 10:39:10 »
Is there any way to add a custom library link in the drop-down drive selector menu? I mean the menu to choose the hard-drives (C, D, E, ... Documents, Pictures, etc.) . I would need to add a link to "Videos" library, is it possible? Cannot find that way to do it. Thanks.

8
However, I must say that Windows Explorer works good in this "exclude" search, and simply MC should use the same method.. if something works, useless to change... just keep it  ;)

9
Try use File search with RegExp ((?!\.ext).)*$

Thanks, but it looks little bit too math and moreover it seems not working.. anything simpler? Maybe add a simple option on MC search?

10
Mathias,
I.e. if search pattern is "bla-bla*.doc" then all files should be found except matching this pattern.
It sometimes could be easier than using RegExp.

I agree, that's what I meant..

11
Ok thanks.

Now another question: it should look inside all sub-folders...

12
Well, I just discovered that it must be typed simply as: -mp3

If you use -*.mp3 it does not work. Can you confirm?

13
Cool, but it is not working.. how and where to type it exactly?

14
I would need something like the Windows File Explorer: http://superuser.com/questions/328223/find-all-files-that-are-not-of-a-specific-type-extension-in-folder

Can MC do it? I tried, it seems not by now ...

Feature Requests and Suggestions / Auto Shutdown
« on: August 13, 2013, 23:39:17 »
It could be really useful an option to enable AUTO-SHUTDOWN after file operations (copy, move, etc.). Really useful when working with a lot of files and many GBs, keeping up the computer overnight, I would need a MC option that automatically shutdowns the computer when operation completes. Is it possible? Thanks.

16
Thanks for the support. However now I tried again with the default settings and it works! Strange... but fine!  ;) I'll keep you posted if anything will change ... thanks again.

I'm having the same problems, MC does not show the Network computers connected. While, Windows Explorer does. However, I'm pointing at the Registry key but on my computer it looks to be HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\

I mean, I do not have the System path in that key, but only "Explorer" (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer)

Should I manually add "System" and then go on ..?

PS: is this change safe and nothing will change how Windows 7 Pro x64 works perfectly here?

Thanks.

Support and Feedback / Re: Rename: replace the original file name
« on: March 19, 2013, 17:57:36 »
For the Mass renamer.,Then [N] tag does not need to be there. It just represent the current file name. you can type "MyFile" instead but if you got multiple files in the list then you will get a conflict since not all the files can be named the same then you need to add a [C] (counter) tag so the files get a number too or something.

Yes, I meant exactly this... perfect! We solved it.

Support and Feedback / Rename: replace the original file name
« on: March 19, 2013, 16:48:43 »
Using the RENAME function, it seems not possible to completely replace the file name, but just make a modification to it because the file name [N] must be in the expression. How to rename a file replacing totally its name? Eg.: filename001.txt must be replaced with replacename001.txt

Thanks.

Support and Feedback / Re: Refreshing Units
« on: September 04, 2012, 23:03:18 »
I tried it again and it is now working, I mean a part is working. The problem was that I had similar contents in the two SD cards and I saw that the name of units SD-X and SD-Y is not updated properly. I mean, I insert the SD-X card and the name is showed in the units tree as unit H:, when I change and I insert the onther SD-Y, with F5 now I can see that the new content is updated (I copied a different file on the card to see when it updates and when not), but the name of unit (SD-Y) is not updated ... and it's showing, now a generic (H:) Removable Device ...

Support and Feedback / Refreshing Units

Hello,

I have a problem each time I change a device in the same unit, it is never refreshed, so I've to close MC and start it again. Not so good.

I mean: I've a SD card X inserted, so I open an explorer panel in MC, I work, fine.
Then: I remove the SD card X and insert (in the same slot reader) another SD card Y but MC is still showing the previous SD card X content! I press F5 (refresh), nothing happens, I cannot get the content from the new SD card Y inserted. So I must close MC and start it again.

This happens both on my Desktop (Win 7 Pro 64bit) and on my laptop (Vista Home Premium 32bit).

Any solution? Thanks.

Support and Feedback / Re: Ultra slow file copy

Ok thanks. Where is a direct link to open the Profile configurations and set the preferences for each Profile?

Hello,

thanks for answering and all info! I understand everything you mean and I agree, sure, everything can speed up the copy process is welcome. Now the problem is that, as you confirmed, that for the OS itself is hard to recognize different hardware scenario and apply different profiles.

So, this is the question. Theorically your explanation is perfect, but I experimented that practically it does not work as it should! This is the main problem. So, right now, I see that only the NORMAL profile works fine for different scenario, as I tested on different computers (laptop and desktop) and different hardware connected (hard drives of different specifications such as SATA, eSATA, FireWire, etc.).

Many things work correctly and perfectly in theory, but then the reality shows different results. So, which is your solution to this PRACTICAL problem? I don't argue your Profile method (which I'd love to use if they would work), but I can argue that right now (maybe for a OS difficult) they do not do the job they should.

NORMAL profile works fine, other Profiles don't. Solution?

Thanks, all the best.

Hello,

I had the same problem today copying from my external hard drive eSATA connected on the laptop's ExpressCard. I needed to copy huge folder with thousand of files (Documents) to my new laptop's internal hard drive. I just started copying and it was ultra ultra ultra slow!! Then I found this topic and I solved in the same way. It just needs to set the NORMAL-SAME DISK profile and it works.

Why make things complicate with such Profiles and permissions if, for example, Windows Explorer works with only one profile and, except for the poor features it has, the speed is always perfect without needed to choose any profiles?

Also, I tried different way to copy files, from external to internal hard drives, internal to internal (different disks) and internal to internal (same disk), I noticed that the better method is ALWAYS the Normal. So, again, why so many different profiles available?! Is there a reason which we cannot figure?

I think MC developer must fix this profiles issue! If Profiles are there to use, they MUST work, Otherwise, better remove them and that's it! Thanks.

Feature Requests and Suggestions / Show hidden folders and files
« on: February 21, 2012, 11:45:05 »
It seems that, unfortunately, to activate the "Show hidden folders and files" option it needs to go to the Window's Folder Options again ... I suggest that to integrate the most common used features inside MC otherwise the continuous switching between MC and Windows Explorer makes it boring and tedious. Thanks.
