When running in portable mode, and it reads from registry , It then reads from one of the .ini files under SessionConfig\ instead

It should work to add "HideSplash=1" to the file "SessionConfig\Config\MultiCommander.ini"  "SessionConfig\Misc\MultiCommander.ini"

(Should have been /Config/ , Might be moved to the file under /Config/ in final version. )

In the latest beta Build  1080 it should be possible to hide it by adding the registry key HideSplash

Reg Path       : HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MultiCommander\
Reg Key/Value  : "HideSplash"  REG_DWORD - value "1"

Yes by design. They are independent of each other.
Then maybe some menu command for both bars like "Move all buttons to command line bar"/"Move all buttons to quick launch bar"? Or "Swap command line/quick launch bar buttons"?
Maybe..  Don't really know where to place a option  for that.
There is however a simple workaround for it.. In conifg.  rename QuickLaunch.xml to QuickLaunch2.xml  and they are now moved.

---
When i switch view mode from Detailed to List, my color setting for focused files is changed. Switching back to Detailed restores colors.
Strange. Not able to recreate that, But might have to try around with the settings. are probably some settings that conflicts..  can you mail me your zfilemanager.xml config file, it contains all the colors configuration. Then I would be able to fix it easier.

When you enable Quick launch as entire row, existing elements from commandline's bar don't get there. And when you disable entire row, its elements aren't moved to the commandline's bar. So in fact there are two independent quick launch bars. Is it by design?
Yes by design. They are independent of each other.

Another issue. If you have settings tab active and open File>Tab menu, all other tabs on that panel are closed.

Ahh Took a while to see.

If the Menu > File > Tab (submenu) is shown.. then it closes the Explorer Panel on that side..

strange error. I will fix direct..

Strange.  I suspect this is a XP / Theme issue..
You're right. I had visual styles and themes service disabled. After enabling the problem was gone.
Ok. I think it will be possible to fix that issue. I suspect it is a draw refresh problem.

Enabling/disabling toolbars from menu works only for commandline bar.
Also by default commandline bar is shown, but disabled in menu. If disabled, after restart it is shown again.
Almost sure this also is an issue with old and buggy XP. Had other toolbar issues with XP before. Will see if there is a workaround else I might disable hide/show for XP.
---

After update if settings were not changed, menus "Date format" and "View mode" for Explorer panel are disabled.
Not able to recreate this, But will keep a look out for it. But they should be greyed out if the current focus is in a panel other the the Explorer Panel. Like settings or Search.

Some visual misbehaviour with quick launch bar. When rearranging disabled and you try to move the button outside the bar, focus rectangle remains after releasing mouse button.
Strange.  I suspect this is a XP / Theme issue.. I will see if I can find my old vmware with XP and do some tests..

Maybe..
Have to check how the error handling and the stuff that is dependent on the splash works. Was written a long time ago. And don't remember it all.

I got the question a couple of time about turning off the splash. I was just wonder if there are an issue with it that I have not noticed my self. Sometimes people want to turn off or change sometime because of some reason. But when I get the information about 'why' it is a problem, I sometime finds a better fix for the problem they have. Maybe it on some system is there for a long time and is annoying in some way.. I don't know. But would like to know.

I am interested in either turning off the splash or changing it to not stay on top. My problem with it is that (1) yes, it does stay on quite a while on my system, and (2) it stays on top so that I cannot move it or access any window that comes up behind it.

The problem is that the settings are not loaded when the splash is shown. And if no splash is shown, then it will not be possible to show the error if it happens during startup..

However , It might be possible to add a registry settings for it..

4471
That is very strange.

It must have something to do with your settings.

If you pack all you config files into a zip and sent them to me at http://multicommander.com/upload I can take a look.
Config files are located under ( Menu > help > go to > config folder )
( edit: Looks like upload does not work. Use the sendfeed back feature under the help menu in the program )

Or you can just remove all the config files under that folder (move them to another place for backup) And you will get the default config. and it should work there. But you will lose all your own customizations then.

4472
The insert key should already to that.. If you press the Insert key.. what is happening ?

The default behavior for INSERT key is to mark the file and then move the focus down to the next file.

That is the standard commander styled way that almost all commander clones are using since the old original NC.

Maybe you have overridden the INSERT key with another command when changing keys, so something else is using it. Then just removed that.

4473
Not sure I understand what you want to do. Not sure what you mean by subdirectories.

INSERT will toggle the selection of a file/folder and move to the next file/folder.
And you can do Ctrl + num+ to select all files with the same extension. (and ctrl+ num- to deselect them)
Alt+NUM+ will select all files with same name that has different extension..
(eg Filename.txt , filename.cpp , filename.h, filename.info  will all be selected when you do alt+ num+ on one of them)

Script / Re: Create empty text file
« on: May 21, 2012, 10:19:57 »
Shift+F5 (might be something other, depends on default style, men look in menu > file )
will copy the select file to the same folder and will suggest a name that is same as original with ".bak" appended

To create a empty file fast. You can type "cf <filname>" in the commandline field.

Support and Feedback / Re: Unpack error
« on: May 20, 2012, 10:15:46 »
I found the error. It was fixed before but the fix got ignored because of another bug fix.

When unpacking many small files it is slow because it handles zip as a virtual filesystem and do not unpack the files in the order they are stored in the zip file so because of that it has to located the file for every files it unpacks. However zip is very fast at that so it is only noticeable if there are many small files.

But this is fixed in the next version.
