Ah, nice to know.
Yes, When I think about it, this dialog appears more often when I drag out.

Thank you

Antivirus maybe. It will be hard to check.

BTW, I also have a "Switch To" dialog that appears if I try to interact with MC while it handles drag'n'drop from an external explorer window.

Support and Feedback / MC frozen while opening file
« on: May 24, 2013, 09:43:03 »

On my poor desktop, when I ask MC to open a code file with VS2010, which is quite long to load. While VS has not finished loading, MC is frozen and I cannot work with even the other panel.

Is there a way to make the opening thread less preemptive ?

Support and Feedback / Re: Hotkey disabled in 2.8.2 b1291

Worked back after modifying to another key (Ctrl-F12) and back again. Don't know if it came from MC or my PC...

I add my vote :)

Using 32 bit edition, hotkey for Go Up has no effect, whatever the key I set.

Can anyone confirm or do I have a mess in my config files ?

Feature Requests and Suggestions / Re: Internal Viewer - WordWrap

That has not really anything to do with wordwrap.
But will add it to the list anyway.

Well, My first post was about that. I asked for word wrap because I thought there was atechnical choicie behind the technical issue :) .

Actually, if I want to select a text longer than the window, and word-wrap is off, the window do not scroll and I can't select this text.
The issue is for horizontal & vertical scrolling.
This is not the behavior I am used to, from notepad, word, notpead++, etc. Is this an expected & wanted behavior ?

Support and Feedback / Re: Reopening tabs issue in portable mode

portable mode: read it from dialog, to be sure :)

About xml config files: I have them on two places : <mc install dir>\Config and <mc install dir>\SessionConfig\Config.

Latest ones are in the former, but latter also has a multicommander.ini very fresh, so am not sure which one is really used. I attach those in former.

FYI, here is my folder tree in MC:

│   ├───CfgProfiles
│   ├───Extensions
│   │   └───MultiFileViewer
│   ├───Presets
│   │   └───zFileManager
│   ├───Scripts
│   └───TOTD
│   ├───FS7Zip
│   ├───FSFTP
│   ├───FSRAR
│   ├───FSRegistry
│   ├───MCAudioTools
│   ├───MCLanEditor
│   ├───MCPictureTools
│   ├───MCSpecial
│   ├───MCUtils
│   ├───MCVideoTools
│   ├───MFTools
│   └───MultiFileViewer
│   ├───Config
│   │   └───Extensions
│   │       └───MultiFileViewer
│   ├───History
│   ├───Logs
│   └───Misc
    ├───Multi Rename
    │   └───Undo

PS: xml files could not be uploaded (filtered by forum). I should have zipped them.

Support and Feedback / Reopening tabs issue in portable mode
« on: August 31, 2012, 17:32:11 »

I am working with v2.7 1171 32bit portable Edition, portable mode.

I have "Remember open paths"  checked and "Save only path to local harddrive" unchecked.
When I close and open MC, all tabs are there but network drives and shares are replaced by C:\ .
It seems like "Save only path to local harddrive" is forced.

The <MC install dir>\Config\ZFileManager.xml file contains:
    <path value="1"/>
    <onlylocal value="0"/>
    <sort value="1"/>

Could you confirm ?

It works great.

Support and Feedback / Re: start on left
« on: August 29, 2012, 12:31:08 »
Okey. Well it is as I sad before.
That can not be controlled. It is so because the last created tab gets the focus..

So after MC start just press the "tab" key and the focus is changed to the other side. :)

May I propose to add a commandline parameter option to allow that, something like /activeleft ?

My 2 cents

Support and Feedback / Pasting clipboard data into Multi Commander
« on: August 28, 2012, 11:47:59 »
Hello Mathias

I have some deep subtrees with many different roots.

So if I had a subpath that begins with a backslash, e.g. \Prod\Batchs\Logs, and I paste it, I would like it to be appended to current path and go.
So if current path is M:\Accounting\, result path will be M:\Accounting\Prod\Batchs\Logs, and content will be displayed

Does it sound feasible?

To Clipboard commands failed on ".." because it is kind of a fake folder. I will see if a special workaround for it can be added.

2. Do not really understand that.. Can you give an example ?

2. I was asking what you said in your message. For valid commands, consider that item to be ".", so current folder. That will allow To Clipboard to work (File path will return c:\windows\. , which is syntactically correct, even if it adds a small redundancy, Path will return c:\windows).

Support and Feedback / current folder to clipboard
« on: July 20, 2012, 12:40:28 »
With MC 2.5 b1110, when browsing, default focus is on the [Go to parent folder] special item.
So if I use the command "To Clipboard>File/folders Path" to get the current path to clipboard, it failed.

1. Is there another method to copy current path to clipboard, that could be keyboard assignable ?
2. Could the To Clipboard commands work also on the special item as if it were the current folder ?

Flatview Showing all files and folders and subfolders together

Not sure if it is possible. But do you not get that behavior if you open search, and search for everything in one folder.
Then all files and folders and subfiles and subfolder are shown in the search result.
Maybe the search need to support for more file system functions so the thing you want to do with files/folder when presented like this can be done here?
Either way is fine. FreeCommander has this feature, if you want to check.
use case for me is selecting files across trees to copy/move/delete.

Bad news:
In 2.5.0 (1110), you cannot unregister file extensions from built-in plugins neither.
Seems there is too much protection there.

Disable by checkbox might not work for built in extensions..

might is an euphemism here  :D

You cheated me  ;D
Ok, i will inhibate rather than deactivate. But then, it means checkboxes are not useful for them.

In Build 1110, only FS-RAR could be deactivated globally.
all other archive plugins reactivate themselves on startup.

Could you confirm ?

like  Midros, flat view is quite handy :
meaning to be able to see all the contents of a folder including subfolders and files inside them, in a single panel. this way  you can select files in many folders to be opened at once (and using the "To clipboard" feature on them).

A command to apply a ShellExecute on the file to allow default Windows file handling (in custom actions at least, as a plain File menu entry at best :) )

I may be dumb, but I would like compressed files to be opened by an external viewer (7z in my case) and did not manage to set it.
I tried to deactivate ziphandler plugin, setting a new file type case, to no avail.

Thanks for the options. It does what I want.

However, I did not expected something related to tabs in the panel settings (which is "inside" the tab), so why I didn't search there. Save On Eixt settings are more for core than Panel, IMO.
