Title: Toolbar view messed up after upgrade
Post by: GrantSP on October 13, 2013, 03:39:42
I have just now updated to the 1530 build of 3.5.1 and my toolbar was all messed up.
There was a gap between the Standard toolbar and the File Commands toolbar, about 60% of the screen width, which meant all the other icons were pushed off the edge of the screen and were unavailable.

At first I tried to grab the handle attached to each toolbar and move it but it is fixed. Has this always been the case? Have these toolbars never been moveable? I have never before had the need to move them so I don't know. Seems a shame if they aren't.
The only way to fix the problem was to "Uncheck/Check" each toolbar in the "View -- Toolbars -->" menu option.

Now it is all as it was before.

Hi,
I have the same problem.
Do you have displayed Special Folders (Desktop, My Document, ...) (Configuration->Explorer panel settings->Layout)?
If it is unchecked, layout is OK.
I had this problem in previous versions too, but only on the rotated monitor (rotated 90° - Portrait view).

You mean that the Drivebar is so large so that it get auto arrange on its own line..  Yes then the file commands toolbar flips out. (This is because of some weird  Behavior of a built in UI Component )

There are two solutions for this..

1. Configure the drive bar to not show all of the extra buttons.
Explorer Panel Settings > Layout (tab) > Uncheck button options under "Additional buttons for Special Folders and Devices"

or

2. Configure the drive bar to place it self its own line from the beginning.
Explorer Panel Settings > Layout (tab) > Check the option "Place the drive toolbar on its own line"

don't know how that can happen.. I'm not able to reproduce that
1. Resize MC window so the drive toolbar moved to the new line
2. Switch off Standard or File commands toolbar (vie View menu)
3. Switch on that toolbar again
4. Resize MC window to the previous size (or wider)

Just toggle standard toolbar on/off again and it will be fixed, or restart MC..

If you have to toggle things on/off and resize and stuff to make it happen then it will probably not be fixed..would require to much to fix it, and it would probably break some other situation.

As Mathias said in the last post, I could fix the problem just by toggling the toolbars.
My "Standard" toolbar looked like the screenshot provided except for the fact the extra space took up about 60% of the screen width and the buttons to the right were unavailable.

So these toolbars are not "grabable" then? Pity.

Not sure what you mean with grabable. But I guess they are not that..

I use it to mean you can "grab" the toolbar by its handle and re-position it to another location. And, yes, they probably aren't.

No that is not possible since all toolbars are created dynamically at runtime and it would not be possible to bring them back in the same order if the user rearranged them.

Did you try to rotate your monitor 90° (to Portrait view)?
For sure my config of MC is attached.

64 bit version is OK, only 32 bit on Windows 8.1 32 bit doesn't work

Issue can not be reproduced.

Maybe you got some corrupt settings or some other installed software that hook it self into Windows is interfering with MC.
