If it is unchecked so that it does not auto switch tab , pressing ctrl+shift will force it to switch tab

Mathias, while it's great to be able to just drag outside Mc to another app, copying / moving something to another tab in Mc with this setting is not possible anymore. While dragging a file over a tab the cursor changes into a + indicating that it could be copied / moved but releasing the cursor does not do anything.

Could you make it dependant on whether control or alt is pressed when you start to drag? That way we could have both worlds. Ctrl-drag will not change to a tab but a normal drag will, or something like that.

Please how about the option to not change tabs when dragging a file out of MC? Still can't find it.

In the bar with the virtual drive buttons, Mc displays a red cross if a network share is not present, however if i right click on it to try and disconnect it, it shows 'not responding' for a while.
Can't it just disconnect such a drive and remove the icon?
I suspect this is a cause for the general unresponsiveness and long loading times that i sometimes when (re)starting Mc when it tries to load disconnected drives.

I could not find anything for ftp, no icon in the top bar with virtual devices, no entry in the drop down list.
After installing the previous version both are back.

I couldn't get ftp to work in the beta, ftp seemed just gone. Reverted to previous version for now.

Maybe you could make it so that if you press shift when dragging, it won't change the tab. That way one would have both ways.

I understand. But i still have a feeling there's something not quite ok because total commander and dopus both had less issues with this on my machine. This is the one reason i used those other ones because i do prefer mc for several reasons.
I have the same issue with an usb drive, it goes asleep so it takes a bit time to wake up if i access it, but mc sometimes takes a long time, more than is required for the drive to wake up.
If i get impatient on these unresponsive listers and forcibly restart mc, the splash window says 'loading configuration' for awhile.
A month ago i couldn't get mc to start up anymore, it just kept on saying loading configuration. I installed it anew onto another map, and than it worked ok again.
Maybe this is some help? Keep up the great work please.

Yes i thought that would be the reason. I had opus installed, that one did not change the tab and still did copy to another tab, i don't have it installed anymore so i can't check.
An option for this would be great! Thanks.

Install conemu, drag it's exe to the upper buttonbar in Mc, it becomes a qucik launch button and you can set it's parameters like -dir "${sourcepath}"
Alternatively you can go to settings in conemu, integration, default term, check Force conemu as default terminal and add multicommander.exe to the list of executables there.

Hi,
I do this often, drag a file from somewhere into another program, browser etc.
When the drag crosses the tabs area, the tab changes to where to mouse crosses there.  Now i have to aim my drag so it crosses the current tab.  If i don't do that, another tab gets focus which is not what i want. I hope you can understand.

For instance i have a network share to my laptop form the deskop. If i turn off the laptop then on the deskop Mc becomes unresponsive. It was minimized so i tried to maximize it but i got a blank screen and i had to wait a minute or so. There are also variations when it just says 'not responding', but always with either a network share or an ftp tab that has lost connection.
I'd love to see this fixed and have my fav filemanager become more stable.

Well i did this, skipped a file from the cue.
Then the lower progress said the files were moved 100% while the above progress bar happily continued to move files.  (fortunately)

Mathias, i get the error again, look at the pic, it's supposed to find Adams*.ab, as you can see the file is present but the search results are empty. Explorer finds the file. It's the only search criterium, i don't see what i'm doing wrong.
Then i switched to normal mode, did the same search and now it finds them all.
Can't make much sense of it, seems very random.

tabs for some paths with persistant color, for instance always color d:\in red.
So that when you make a new tab and browse to d:\in (or subfolder) it will get red. I have a few paths i would love to define that way, not dependant on the tab property but in some setting window like the favourites paths. Or maybe let me assign a tab color to one of those.
