Feature Requests and Suggestions / Add X-mouse capability
« on: April 03, 2013, 22:59:38 »
I would really like to have X-mouse work with the Explorer Panels of MC. I use X-mouse on my system, which allows me to hover my mouse over a window and scroll it without clicking to give it focus. In MC, I keep trying to hover the mouse over the Explorer Panel that does not have focus and scroll that panel. Needless to say, it doesn't work, but I wish it did. Is there any possibility for such a thing?

Support and Feedback / Re: Button Panel Puzzlement

Okay, Mathias. I just thought it was strange that hovering over the start button would look to MC like I was pressing CTRL, but I suppose I'll just have to try to change my habits to press RMB whenever I move the mouse away from Start. Thanks.

I have a puzzling problem with the button panel. It's not critical, but I would like to get a solution.
I installed a substitute Windows start menu called "Classic Start Menu". One of its options is to open it by hovering over the Start button. I use this a lot, but after doing that, I find that the MC button panel display has switched to the CTRL+ display. (I keep MC open all the time.) This is not critical, since I only have to right-click in the button panel to restore it, but it would be nice if the button panel display would restore itself after I stop hovering over the Start button.
I'm not sure if Classic Start Menu is causing this, or if MultiCommander could do something to keep this from happening. Any thoughts?  :-\

How do you assign a hotkey to a View Mode?

Mathias, is this just something you are thinking about? It doesn't seem to work for me (current Beta, build 1182)

I was experimenting with the recently-added Quick Launch Bar, and I managed to add an entire Quick Launch row. Neat! But now I can't remember how I did it, and I can't find how to remove it. If you explain, I will add it to the writeup.

Thank you very much Mathias.

I got the question a couple of time about turning off the splash. I was just wonder if there are an issue with it that I have not noticed my self. Sometimes people want to turn off or change sometime because of some reason. But when I get the information about 'why' it is a problem, I sometime finds a better fix for the problem they have. Maybe it on some system is there for a long time and is annoying in some way.. I don't know. But would like to know.

I am interested in either turning off the splash or changing it to not stay on top. My problem with it is that (1) yes, it does stay on quite a while on my system, and (2) it stays on top so that I cannot move it or access any window that comes up behind it.

Is there an easy way to drag'n'drop the current folder on a button in the button panel? I have tried to D&D the current tab, or a subfield from the current path field, but neither one works. It's a pain to have to go up to the parent folder and then look for the subfolder you were just in.

Support and Feedback / Hot Path Icon shows wrong tool tip
« on: November 05, 2011, 21:59:58 »
When you bring up the Hot Path list (by right-clicking in the path field) and then hover the mouse over the icon that looks like a rectangle with a plus sign superimposed, a tooltip is shown that says "Set current path to this Hot Path". What it should really say is "Set this Hot Path to the current path".

Feature Requests and Suggestions / Re: Remember position on restart
« on: October 16, 2011, 20:59:18 »
Sorry, apparently I was mistaken and it already does remember where it was. It's just that you have to click Menu->Configuration->Explorer Panel Settings, then click Save in the dialog to make it remember.

Feature Requests and Suggestions / Highlight Toolbar Name
« on: October 10, 2011, 22:47:45 »
I would like to see the name highlighted for the current toolbar showing (i.e. Address, Standard, Drives, File Commands). It would be nice to have something show which toolbar is displayed.

Yes, but I want it to remember the location, i.e. the file/folder that was in focus at the time it was shut down. I'm sorry if I did not make this clear.

I'm referring to the location in the folder tree.

I wish MultiCommander would remember the position(s) it was at when it was last shut down, and reposition there at startup. Is there a setting somewhere that will do that?

Feature Requests and Suggestions / Better horizontal scrolling
« on: September 27, 2011, 21:46:48 »
When I click on "Show Folder Tree", it subdivides the panel into two sections, the folder tree and the file list within the current folder, as expected. However, the horizontal scroll bar under the file list cannot be moved left to display the beginnings of the file names, and usually I am left seeing only the file extensions and subsequent columns. I would really like this to be fixed.

Okay, I found an answer (sort of) in the FAQ. I will have to study it and see if it satisfies my needs.

I'm still trying some different things. I found that Wizard Mode gave me improved results. By the way, I'm using 64-bit MC on 64-bit Windows 7.

In the documentation, Functions->Explorer Panel->Folder Tree causes a "Page Not Found" error. Is the information about folder trees found anywhere else?

I did press Save, and I did have * under File Extensions, but still no joy.

I tried to change the default file editor (Configuration->File Editor Setup), but it does not seem to work. F9 still uses Notepad, and when I go back to Configuration->File Editor Setup, it has changed the default back to Notepad. How do I make the change persist?

I found the answer on my own. You create a tab by selecting File->New Explorer Panel. Other tab functions are under File->Tabs.

The web site indicates that tabs can be used, but I can't find any description in the documentation.
