in Menu > Core Configuration you can switch language.

If startup is long it is often because that some network device that it thinks are online are not online. during start up it tries to get information on all availible devices..
You can enable full app logging and then it will logout everything it does during start up and you see what it hangs on.
Normal start up is 1-2s

I don't see it as it does not work.. You get a warning that something is using the device because of file notification.  But it does not prevent you from just clicking continue.
If you do not want to see a warning. then navigate away from the device before format

Windows can unsubcribe on file notification it self since it has full control of the shell. But MC is not build ontop of the shell. So MC does not know that the format tool have started.

Yes that is because file notification is active on the filesystem, So MC gets notified and refresh the view if anything is changed on the drive.
But there is no exclusive lock.. Windows will allow the device to be unmounted anyway

Not sure what the problem is,
It is not an error.. It is a warning saying it is in used. but you continue and it gets unmounted  formated.. and then remounted.

I have the item in Windows 10, but not in Windows 11. Clean install...

Which OS version do you use for "all my machines"

MC have no control over that. When you open an external program. MC just tell Windows to open file X. and Windows then open it in what it is associated with

No. The beta mostly only have minor fixes and fixes for crash issues that are very rare and hard to reproduce.

87 is a generic error that means invalid parameter

It hard to say what goes wrong, depends on that input and what options used and such.
Don't really understand what you are trying to do.. you say xml files but and then you say CSV file
But are text file.. the search and replace things work on text files. but do not handle xml/cvs files in any special way, but as pure text file.

if you want to do pairs of find and replace.. there must be correct number of them..
and option for find and replace is the second one "Find many, replace with many"

You get one icon on the taskbar for each instance. But normally Windows stack/group them so you get one on the taskbar and the other when you click on that.
For me they are stacked. unless I disable that settings in Windows..

I'm not able to recreate that..
But if you are showing the content of the device and there are lots of files a background process is running to get icons and such. And if you select to format the device before this is done I guess Windows see that it is in used.

I color some folder icons to stand out. I was surprised that Build 2915 (and possibly older builds) did not display those folders. There are other encrypted folders at the top of the list (see image) that also did not display. And, there was another folder (TipardTemp) that also did not display, although I do not know what is special about it (icon not colored). Since MultiCommander can create folders, I tried creating "TipardTemp" to see if I receive an error message (already exists) but the MultiCommander function looked like it had worked, but there was no message indicating success or failure.

Win 10 Pro x64

MC ask Windows for the icon, Normally if another icon is set for a folder (Like Download , Documents and such) it will be returned to MC.. MC does not have to do any special handling..
Not sure how you configured the icon for other folder , if that are via some 3rd party shell extension or something,

Yes Creating folder that already exists does not do anything. if you press Ctrl+L and check the FileOperation log you see.
Create folder is more like.. Make sure this folder(s) and subfolders exists

Ahh you select using "lasso" / selection rectangle..  Yes MC have that too, but it does not currently autoscroll when coming to the end

Exactly all with the left mouse button.
I click on the first file I want to select, hold down the mouse button and drag down.
The dragging stops at the bottom. (in the Multi Commander)

In Windows Explorer it keeps scrolling until I stop or the file list ends.
This is what I need.

If I do that in Windows Explorer it starts to drag the file. How do you turn that on in Windows Explorer ?

In Windows Explorer and Speedcommander it works too!
Too bad!

I never seen that in Windows Explorer. How do you enable that in Windows Explorer. Windows Explorer will start to drag item with with left button.

That would work, but overrides my other mouse settings. For example, dragging with the right mouse button.
Why can't I just select and scroll with the left mouse button pressed? Would be so easy!

That would collide with how you normally start a drag operation

Menu > Configuration >  Explorer Panel Settings > Mouse Config

Or if you want to switch to Commander style setup there is a quick way
Menu > Configuration > Quick Look'n'Feel setup > Commander style look'n' feel.
Then you can check if that is the way you want mouse selection to work

If you selected commander styled setup at first start of MC you get that setup.

But you can change that in mouse settings even if you selected WinExplorer settings at startup

If you have commander styled mouse/key setup.. then you have toggle selection on right button.. and it will scroll.
You can hold right button down and go up / down to select
 Explorer Panel Settings > Mouse Config >
For Right Button click, set to Toggle Selection

I have this on my todo list. However it is not as simple as one might thing at first since MC have multiple panels with multiple tabs and some tabs is not even file explorer panels.

But you can set a own tab in the title bar that is shown first..  either using parameters for MultiCommander.exe or using the command line field  ":title <text>" command

MC currently do not support ADS  (Alternative data streams) it is on the list.. Problem is that lots of security software gets suspicious with software that deals with ADS. since lots of malware uses that to hide and then the risk gets higher that MC get more false positives flags from security software.

I like the idea. BUT then lots of code need to be added for handling a dummy licences.. code for validating licence and helper programs to generate license keys.. Manage keys and other things.
Sounds like lots of works and lots of extra code inside MC that does not really does adds anything. Maybe there are some other extra value to give in some other way.

I will check if this is a settings things or something..

Pressing Shift+F5 and you get the copy dialog without path set to target folder.. So easier to edit the name.. but it will not solve the already exist issue.

A working workaround is to use drag and drop..
Drag the file you want to copy and hold Ctrl+Shift while dragging.. and drop on the file to replace.. you will see a popup that will ask what action you want to do. and you can select Copy or Replace.. then the file you dragged will be copyed or moved to the name of the file you dropped on and replace it

That was 2016 , Windows Preview Handler is now partial added.. if you active Hover preview and you have a preview handler installed for PDF (by default in windows 10 there is one)
It will show the pdf in a hover window.

If you want to open current location in Windows Explorer. then just type "." (dot) and press return in the command line field.

Menu > Help > Go to > Config Folder

Then Go into the "Script" folder. and you see all folders here.  Just delete and rename folder here then restart MC
