Hi Mathias.

Build 2379 is labelled 7.5, not 7.4...

Where in config is this option - I am too blind (or old) to find it ;)

I'm sure no one goes through all their systray apps and closes them all individually before shutting down their PC?

You are right, of course.  I should have read more carefully before posting. Apologies  :-[

REG is not using default column setup. So it cant remember it
I realise that, but the issue was not present before v7.3

Might be possible to create a custom column setup that only trigger for reg:
That would be excellent!

Hi Mathias.

The issue with REG: tabs not remembering column widths is still there...

Hi Mathias.

If you can find time to draft the docs, I am happy to do the updates for you.  Just send me the page links as before :)

FWIW, it is bad practice to shut down a PC without closing all open apps...   :-\

Support and Feedback / Last Modified Date Often not Populated
« on: July 15, 2017, 19:16:17 »
Build 2360, Win 7 Pro, x64

Mathias,

there is an issue with Last Modified Date in build 2360 and the last 3 or 4 builds.

This happens frequently after re-starting MC.  F5 causes the column to be repopulated (of course), but I cannot pin down when or why it happens.  There is nothing in the logs...

Anything I can test?

Support and Feedback / Column Sizes Lost in REG: after Restart
« on: July 15, 2017, 19:08:58 »
Build 2360, Win 7 Pro, x64

Mathias there is a column size issue for REG: tabs in build 2360 that was not present in build 2347.

It seems only to happen when the REG: tab is NOT in focus when MC is closed and reopened.

"Remember open path" is checked in "Explorer Panel Settings".

Steps to reproduce:

1: Arrange all tabs as per "1 Default Tab Layout" image
Ctrl+Tab to REG: tab on right-hand side and note column widths (as per "2 Column Sizes for REG Tab" image)
    Ctrl+Tab to tab1 on right-hand side
    Close MC

2:Restart MC then Ctrl+Tab to REG: tab on right-hand side
Note column widths (as per "3 Column Sizes for REG Tab After Restart" image)

This happens in every test I have done (more than 20).

If you need more info, let me know.

Mathias,

I think what @Matthias is saying is that only the file in focus should be opened on a double-click (the other - selected - files should simply remain selected, not opened).

A real-world example would be if I wanted to move a selection of photos from one folder to another, I would select the files I know should be moved, and then open/preview the files I was not certain needed to be moved by double-clicking on them (without losing my original selection).

@Matthias, sorry if I got this wrong!

Hi Ulf.

I see!  I was translating the whole line as a regular RegEx :)  I didn't realise the "|" was part of the MC Rename process (I've never used it).

No wonder I got confused (well, the syntax and my great age) ;)

I'm a Perl RegEx man myself, so the syntax is slightly different anyway.  But you would still need to escape the "(" and ")" for any flavour of RegEx.

Have you tried:

  ...| \($1\)

(just a WAG) ?

Hi Ulf.

I am unclear as to what the expressions is doing...

(19[0-9][0-9])|($1)  translates as:

Find AND capture ["19" followed by 2 digits] OR [the first match found]

Is that correct?

Yeah - keyboards make great (if unwitting) forensic tools!  I now know exactly what my grandson eats most of when he's at my PC ;)

@OldskoolOrion

Have you tried installing MC portable into a new folder, make no other changes whatever and checking if you see the same results?

If you see the same results, you have (IMHO) to suspect the keyboard drivers.  If you do not see the behaviour, it has to be something in the way you have configured MC (probably).

Just my 2 cents...

265
Sorry Mathias, but I see the same behaviour (just not noticed before)  :(

If focus goes to another application (eg., Alt+Tab) and is then returned to MC, the sort is correct (nothing in the logs).

I guess you could report the false positive, but don't hold your breath for a quick fix.

In the quick bit of research I did on your behalf, I found over 1700 reports of the issue affecting many programs going back to 2014 and as recently as March this year :(

Which scanning tool reported the "unauthorized file encryption"?

If this was TrendMicro (or their OfficeScan product) it is a known problem (false positive).

If you do not want to change AV, you can (as a workaroud) switch off heuristic scanning.

Does this reply to your earlier question not work for this situation?

It will be very much better when this Tab-Copy will be created directly beside the active Tab

Sorry Matthias, but this a matter of preference: I am very happy with a new tab being opened at the end of the existing row - then I know it is not one of my "standard" ( and locked) tabs.

I also want all tabs to open NOT in the background (or why open a new tab - I want the information NOW?).  And MC is not an Internet Browser, after all ;)

It seems your idea of a "good internet experience" is different from mine (and maybe some other folks) :)

Matthias,

I am unable to reproduce this in 6.9.1 (2306) or in v7.0 RC1...

How are you copying/moving: Ctrl+C/Ctrl+X or from the File menu or via the mouse or...?

Are you using Commander- or Explorer-Style?

272
@G90210

1)  I don't believe so (but Mathias will know for sure)

2)  In Configuration > Explorer Panel Settings > Keyboard handling: make sure 'Quick Search' is checked and set 'Search keys' to 'Letter Only'

3)  I believe this is a limitation of Windows Portable Devices (but Mathias will know for sure).  To force a refresh, in the drive list at the top left of the Explorer Panel, click 'Refresh Devices' (bottom option).

Support and Feedback / Re: Multi Commander scrolling
« on: March 31, 2017, 12:47:53 »
Can you give an example of how scrolling does not work for you?

274
Herrie,
you say that you have some scripting experience.

If so, this may be of some help:
http://www.dostips.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7125

Also, are you trying to convert the file date to the ISO week number (where week 1 is the first week containing Jan 4th), or the American system (where Jan 1st is the beginning of week 1), or something else...?

275
You can add Length to the column layout for audio/video file types.
