Fast shortcut for FTP connection
« on: September 27, 2015, 07:26:08 »
I am very happy using the MC.
I always want to use the keyboard, rarely with the mouse. I need to FTP shortkey, but Ctrl-F is for Filters.
Please drop down list of option letters: C, D, E ... for drives and the letter R for FTP (Remote FTP).
I hope that few users have so many of drives and the letter R is free.
What about a shortkey for closing connection with FTP server?

If you got a RAM drive, may put that drive on R. and even if you got lots of drives or mounted devices you do not need to fill it up from A to Z
So we can't assuming that R is free.

FTP can be reached in many other ways.. you can type FTP: in command line bar. and you can create an alias for that so you only need to type R in the command line field.

Or you add FTP: to one of the ten quick paths in favorites so you can access it from any of the Ctrl+0 to Ctrl+9 shortcuts.
Or you can create a user defined command that goes to the pash FTP: and then assign any shortcut you want (almost) to that.

In Keyboard Customzation udner module Explorer Panel and Category ModuleSpecific commands you find the entry "Disconnect / Eject / Remove Device"
That is the command that is called when pressing the "Disconnect" button. There you can assign a hotkey for that.

Thanks for explanation.

How to call this explorer panel, this after: Alt-F1 (or F2) - FTP, and create shortkey?

Eh?
How to create shortcut ?  You do that in Keyboard cusotmization or in the Favorites windows for the Favorites Quick Paths.
All Depends on what you want to do

Im not sure what you want to do.
FS-FTP is no a panel. It is a Virtual FileSystem Plugin that register it self to the "FTP:" path, So when you go to FTP: in any ExplorerPanel you get to the FTP bookmark location and from there you go to ftp sites.

If you just want to change the path so it goes to FTP: then you just use favorites quickpaths or a command that changes path to "FTP:"

If you want to open a new tab and make it go to path FTP: when use a customcommand with the command
Code: [Select]
MC.Explorer.NewBrowser PATH="FTP:" SIDE=AUTO

BINGO! This is it!
Now, I can try to connect with my FTP server from the list and at the end close connection and close the panel.
Thank you very much.
