Very nice. If you have a little more time, could you check why a new symbol of the network share is always created in the directory tree when accessing a network share?

A "network share" is a shared resource, like a file or folder, made available over a network for access by other devices. It allows files to be shared and accessed remotely within a connected network.
The network shares are usually consolidated under the network symbol in the directory tree.

I know what network shares are.. you talked about checking symbols and stuff..
I have not seen any issues with accessing a network shares, uses it daily my self without any issue

The admin-mode don't work anymore.
Not able to reproduce that
It is just the beta.. ? or all version ? all folder location ? If its hang it is often MC waiting for a call to windows to comeback.. So then it can be anything that hook them self into Windows that causing it..

It's just the beta. I always do this when I install a new program or a update. Do you never use protected folders? Do you start your MC as Admin? My Windows account is an admin account. Maybe that's the difference.

Method A and Method B works not for me, maybe you have different settings.

Not sure I understand what you issue is.. something with network connection ?

So you only got the problem in beta. strange. absolutely nothing is changed about browsing file shares.
There is a difference in User mode and elevated to admin mode, By default they do not share mapped network drives. but that is a registry settings for windows. But I guess that is not the issue.
Browse network method is depending on how you network setup looks like. Windows got 3 different ways to do it. and they all do different things..  Looking in the log (ctrl+L) and it will output everything it finds

But you can "pin" server in the network (NET:) and they will always be shown there, It will cache it.. and you can often just access directly without scanning again

Quick searching files/folders by typing/pressing keys has stopped working in build 2962. It was working until this build

Alright, this has nothing to do with the beta version, but I don't understand why the fritz-nas icon under the network icon is not working and instead a new icon has been created at the bottom. Please watch my screenshot. This has nothing to do with reachability. How does pinning work with NET:? i have no idea.

NET: is a virtual device that just shows and manage network connection.. When you browse to a network location \\Server,  a new entry in the device root is created and that device is accessible from there.
This is because normally you browse devices from the device dropdown and not the tree

This works for me in Build: 2962.
I made few tests and discovered that quick searching is working only when I try to search string without first letter.
For example:
I have files:
axx
bxx
cyy
dyy
When i press "a" or "b" or "c" or "d" key, nothing happens and nothing appers in quick search edit field.
When I press "x" or "y" key, then letter "x" or "y" appears in quick search edit field. Then I can press another "x" or "y".

Hi,

There is an issue in favourite windows (since months, I've already informed you in the past by mail), there is not text visible on focused item. It doesn't matter which colour you set.

Yes it go to white text color, so having white background make it fails.
Hmm not sure the colors in that window should even be customizable.. it should maybe just use the colors of the explorer panel. feels strange that you can customize that..

MC 13.3 b2964 x64 on W11 x64
Just an FYI...
This build has pretty much solved the RMB context menu issues I had.  I did have a few strange instances where it worked fully then stopped, then worked partially but it is currently 100% since I enabled legacy icons for the context menu.

Hang on exit still an issue, I guess maybe 4 of 5 exits leave the window hanging & unresponsive.  It can still always be killed by TM>end task though.

Thanks for your continuing work on my favorite program Mathias :)

I'm not able to recreate any hang on exit.. So I have no idea what can cause it to happen for you.. I must be something that is unique for your setup. against most others..
Problem is to figure out what that can be

No.. it does not find any matching debug symbols.  What version is that ?. might be that symbols for that version is removed.

See attached for version of Windbg - It's what Win11 installs, bit different to the Win10 environment I'm slightly familiar with.
Don't know if this output is different from what you see or helps: -

One thing I have noticed is that whenever I do an update MC is shut down perfectly by the updater...

As Win11 is proving awkward, I guess I may have to wait for Win12, which is being forecast for late 2024 - shame that they still haven't fixed Win7 though  :P

No what I meant was that the debug symbols I got did not match.. I think the dump was from a beta version where that did not have saved debug symbols correctly. Had some build issue on my build server.
But if you create a new dump from build 2967, then I should have dbg symbols that are matching.

With correct symbols it will resolve all of the " MultiCommander+0x4d81c7  "to the correct code functions, and I can see where it hangs..

Still getting 502 when I try to upload :(  so have sent you a link via contact form.

It hangs when trying to stop monitor folders for changes.
MC normally ask windows to tell MC if folder X is changed. When closing MC, MC tells windows to stop doing that for MC and it hangs and Windows do not gives as response.
I reply on your mail with what folder it is.. Maybe it is somethings special with that folder on your system
