Smartphone Verbindung
« on: December 16, 2024, 20:31:02 »

I translated this with ChatGPT:

Hello, I have a strange problem that I haven't found in the forum so far. When I connect an Android smartphone (Samsung) to a Windows 10 PC via USB, a specific folder in the DCIM directory is not displayed in Multi Commander. In other file managers (Windows Explorer, FreeCommander, xplorer2, Total Commander, etc.), the directory is always shown. I have not set any display filters.
Additionally, I have the problem that I can copy files from the smartphone to the PC but cannot move them.
I think Multi Commander is otherwise the best file manager. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

This is a normal folder (name: Screen recordings) containing video recordings.

Something special with it ? or something else that are unique ?, Do you have option on to show hidden file ? I Don't know if folders on phone can have attribute set so folders is hidden.
I don't know why it does not work for you. I cannot reproduce that error
MC is not talking to to phone by it self, It is using the Window portable device API , So it is using Windows Built in support for WPD. So there is not much room for doing something different. So I don't know why some folder is not shown

translatet with Deepl:
Option to show hidden files is activated. There is nothing special about the folder. Attributes for folders cannot be assigned directly. However, Samsung offers the option of moving certain folders to a "secure folder". However, this has not been done with this folder. Ihave also tried renaming the folder. However, it is still not displayed in Multi Commander. It is always displayed in Windows Explorer and other file managers.
I have given up. Thanks for the answers.

@python,
Did you create that folder manually yourself or it was made automatically by some built-in app? I mean if you manage to find a way to create such "strange" folders, it may give Mathias a clue.

Folgende Version: Multi Commander v13.3 (Build 2969) 64Bit – Installer (EXE) – Portabel (Zip) vom 11.12.2023

I took the trouble to try all portable versions. The display error appears from version 14.3 (build 3042) onwards.
Up to and including version v14.2 (Build 3026) everything is displayed correctly. Of course, I don't know whether this is also the case for the installer (EXE) versions.

I'm not able to reproduce that..
How Do I create a folder that is not shown ?
Is it a folder you create your self or did some app create it ?
What phone is it.. iPhone or Android ?
if android what android. Google Pixel ? Samsung XX ? or what type and model ?

Also you can enable log-output that list all objects that WPD finds
Go to Menu > Configuration > FileSystem Plugin Settings > FS-Portable
And Enabled everything under "Extended logging"
It should log everything it find under each folder to App Log (Ctrl+L),
Is the missing folder listed there ? or is does it report of any error and skipped items when listing the folder that should contain it ?

Danke (-:
