This is a very old program for deleting protected files. I don't think this is the reason for the issue.
My antivirus, F-Secure, quarantined MuktiCommander.exe, most recently on May 22. If others don't have this issue, then some kind of system error must have crept in on my end.

Clicking on the Alias Column Field to sort Aliases alphabetically and then hitting apply doesn't make MC remember the sorted Aliases. However moving them Up/Down does make them persistent. Can you please fix the Sorting By Column so they retain their alphabetical sort order ? Right now all my new Aliases are displayed at the bottom & I have to re-sort them Alphabetically by clicking on the Alias Column Field everytime. Please do something about this… At first I thought my Aliases got corrupt so I deleted all my Aliases.XML entries after making a backup, then I deleted all my new User Defined Commands Scripts after backing them up, this issue is still prevalent though. :(
P.S: When I manually edit the Aliases.XML & move the entries, the Order is maintained but not when clicking Alias Alphabetical Column Field and clicking Apply !

Return and "open" should be the same. both send the list of files to Windows and tell it to "open" them. MC don't really have much control over what Windows does. normally they are opened using what the file type is associated with.

I can't replicate any difference from right click open or return key.
I check what is different in the code. But they should the same

So there's no plan to ever fix this? And even a MultiScript can't handle it?

No that is the User file, This files is loaded by MC if it exits.. If you edit buttons in MC, this file will be updated.This is the file I modify. And as I see it is under my username.Am I wrong?.

The file under the install folder is the "Default" file that is used if the file under the account profile does not exists. So if the file C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\MultiCommander\Config\MultiButtons.xml does not exists. (As in a NEW fresh install) then it will copy the file from the install folder to the user profile and use that.I never went to the install folder. I updated only according to your instruction before.
When you update MC. the file in the Install folder can be update. so the default layout can be changed. but as soon as you have a file under your user profile. that will not be copied over. According to your last sentence, if I have a file under my user name ("C:Users\username\AppData\Roaming\MultiCommander\Config\MultiButtons.xml ") and I think this file is under my username than it should not be updated even when the MC has an update  going down. Am I right?

Hi,
I just have too many tabs opened and it would be very handy to not them all squeeze into 1 line because then i cant read the name of tab, but let them go free into second line or 3rd line..and so on ...so I can read the name of the tabs

just like in other commanders
