When multiple instances open and a external HDD is disconnected, MC think sometimes the HDD isnt disconnected. When a Android Smartphone disconnected, MC think it is still connected. When a Android Smartphone reconnected, MC have yet the old links and can't connect to a reconnected Smartphone. But wenn a new file created or a file overwritten in most cases MC recognize it, but sometimes i need to press the refresh button. But the refresh button do not help for Smartphones which are via MTP connected.

For full OS backup then Acronis or other imaginge software are better

Acronis True Image is only so fast when it create its own Backup Files. Direct Copy of Hard Drives i tested a long time not.  But Beyond Compare (I don't know whether talking about is allowed in your forum) is also with creating the filesystem of the copy very much faster. The speed difference can you see when you make a copy of very much small files. When making a copy of Big Files like Videos you can't see any difference. But BC are using more than one CPU Core.

Sorry, but i have to say that the Windows Explorer or Multicommander or any other Commander are not the right Software for doing such a job. They all will need to much time. Therefore i never finshed such a job with MC. I made it always partially until the first question come or until it stop for several reasons and finished it with BC, The fastest Software is Acronis True Image. This use the Full Speed of the Hard Drive for making a Backup. There is no faster Software available and therefore Acronis can give us always alpha versions as final.....

Crtrl+D is by default used for Unselect All. If you want take this Shortcut for another Command, you need first setup a new shortcut for Unselect All i guess.

I have killed this instances and can't reproduce it. Before it happens, i moved some files and folders and after i accidentally deleted a folder (ssd and no recycled.bin on) i made a restore with Acronis true image and because the deleted folder blocked, i closed all MC instances with right click in Win10 taskbar. 2 instances kept staying after this actiion, but could be closed with Alt+F4. Then i made the restore and later i have seen that MC always using CPU und detected taht this Processes running. This was no " minimized to task bar" and no "contantly changing so it it rescanning" and no "gettting Icons". It was just a failure i guess. If it can't be reproduced, is my report senseless. sorry.

Sometimes Multicommander protecting folders also after all activities ended. Without any reason. This folders cant be renamed or deleted and cant used by other Software until Multicommander terminqated. Sometimes also when the folder already deleted. I deleted accidentally a folder with gpx and osm files and recovery with Acronis True Image doesn't work until MC terminated.

1080 is no longer high res. 4k is high res now. Use Verdana for best results on all screens. And you should test how it look without cleartype or you can change the cleartype settings: Press Win + R and type cttune.exe and press enter and run the wizard or disable it.

Maybe your screens are not rigt calibrated. Are they with hdmi connected or dvi or crt or display port?

If you do not want it to remember all opened tabs then turn that off.

Where can i turn this off? Sorry i was searching now for a while and can't find a "remember all opened tabs"-option.

But the solution is: Core Settings> Startup> Tab Session> Autoload the tab session marked as: Load at startup

And creating a small tab session and mark this for Load at startup with File> Tab sessions> manage> Autoload this tab session at startup

No, i don't like it when MC loading so many tabs with the same folder without any reason. Not i opened all this tabs, MC do this automatically while starting and this is not good. It seems to be hard to understand my bad english, sorry.

Moving to Support and Feedback was not necessary, because it's definitely a "Feature Requests and Suggestions" Thread.

1. When I'm in the explorer pane and I type a letter, it used to go to the first file that starts with that letter. On the new computer, when I type a letter it types the letter in the Command Line Field at the top, and does not go to the first file with that letter.

Press Ctrl + Alt and type a letter, this works. This is the feature.

2. When I right-click on a file in the explorer pane nothing happens.

Please use a double right click, or the Keyboard Butten left beside the right Ctrl Button.

I don't know why they are empty.

They are not empty, but the path is most time C:\

Always when i start MC it open alot of empty tabs. I guess its enough to load 1 tab for each panel when starting MC. It seems this have to do with the last closed MC instance. If the last closed MC Instance have only 3 tabs, MC will open 3 empty tabs on next start.

You want to lock a tab to a path ?
or do you want a tab to always start with a path ?

No he want to start a path for source panel and a path for target panel with only one favorite icon like in TC. For me is this not relevant because i don't use favorite icons.

The Folder Tree show the content of the folder only after a mouse click of the folder and when using the Keyboard Arrows happens the folder is just selected but the content is not in the panel. When using the enter key, the focus move to the panel and only after a mouse click in thje folder tree is browsing of multiple folders possible. Thats really not good. I watched the settings but there is no option for changing this.

Yes, sorry, it have nothing to do with the new beta. But the same in other protected folders and not only with shortcuts, the same issue with files. But i have a thread for this problem, sorry for harassing you with this very old problem.

Specially when it works for me

For repeat you must go in your own startmenu folders and trying to move a file from a subfolder to another subfolder when the same File in the target folder already exists. Please watch my screenshot for the paths. Folders should cause the admin-mode, without admin mode no repeat possible.

Or use the following paths:
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Microsoft Office 2016\

1. Copy works and moving works not, thats strange.
2. It was a old macromedia Flash player for a digital Book still open after the book closed, this was disturbing the MC Speed.

Sorry i don't need this. A copy option in a folder with already existing files is no option and should be made with a synchronizing software. Sometimes when i moving new startmenu shortcuts i take MC and they already exist sometimes when it is only a update of a shortcut. Then i trying to move and overwriting at the same time and MC fail and the MC Dev won't fix this problem which have nothing to do wich my special setup - sorry.

It seems the Startup of MC is now longer and Loading Tab Sessions need more time also when Excel and other disturbing Software off.

Some new Shortcuts are different to the old ones and protected for manual editing, this shortcuts have to be replaced. I use Classic Shell and i did my Start menu also in Win XP in my own order. If you watch Linux KDE, they have a good order in the start menu (but not for wine programs). I guess this is not just my idea, i have it stolen by KDE, but was searching for a better order before i tested KDE. Sometimes when i was writing something against Microsoft, the stupid order in startmenu is always a good argument, and the useless new startmenu attempts.... Not necessary talking about, this is all only Klickibunti.

Ah, sorry i was wrong. This what you mean with "active window" is called "Source Panel". You want that the Source-Panel width should be always 75%  and the Target Panel width 25%. And i think, like Jungle said, it´s probably not possible. But if you need more width in the Source Panel, just use Ctrl+ F11 for 100% and Ctrl+ F11 (full pane width ) again to get back to the previous split size.

May use a english version to know how the features called.

Save your Tab sessions just in such a way that the source panel always at the left side, then can you maybe working with a permanent split size of 75:25.
