New Aliases Don't Retain Their Sorting Order
« on: May 24, 2025, 03:41:50 »
Following the implementation of the search filtering feature, I've noticed that the sorting state for the Aliases column does not persist. Specifically, when I set the Alias column to sort alphabetically, this order is lost upon subsequent Aliases Box launches interactions. Currently, I need to manually click the "Alias" column header each time to reapply the alphabetical sort.

Could you please fix persistent sorting for the Aliases column so that the alphabetical order remains consistent across sessions and re-opening Aliases Box?

In the screenshot, all the Aliases below "xxzeusct" lose their Sorting Order each time I open the Aliases Box !

Clicking on the Alias Column Field to sort Aliases alphabetically and then hitting apply doesn't make MC remember the sorted Aliases. However moving them Up/Down does make them persistent. Can you please fix the Sorting By Column so they retain their alphabetical sort order ? Right now all my new Aliases are displayed at the bottom & I have to re-sort them Alphabetically by clicking on the Alias Column Field everytime. Please do something about this… At first I thought my Aliases got corrupt so I deleted all my Aliases.XML entries after making a backup, then I deleted all my new User Defined Commands Scripts after backing them up, this issue is still prevalent though. :(
P.S: When I manually edit the Aliases.XML & move the entries, the Order is maintained but not when clicking Alias Alphabetical Column Field and clicking Apply !

Alias are resolved from top to bottom. So sorting them will mess that up.. BUT unless you got multiple aliases with same name (different parameters count and such) it does not matter.. So supporting multiple might not be needed, Then sorting them also does not matter

No there's something wrong /w my Aliases, I cannot even delete them, when I reopen my Aliases Box after deleting an item, it still is there ! Also sorting is not retained. I'am running the latest version: "v15.5 RC ( Build 3098 ) - 2025-05-26". I noticed there were 6 Chinese character folders in my MC folder & a weird character filename containing a Batch script for an app of mine (I deleted all of them.) Can you confirm if you can delete an Alias after creating it, & whether the Sort Order stays persistent ? I have 196 Aliases & 138 User-Defined Commands if that helps…

P.S: I tested in a fresh new Portable version & Non-Beta "MultiCommander_x64_Portable_(15.4.0.3089)" works when you change Sorting Order &/ or delete, but once I updated to latest version "v15.5 RC ( Build 3098 ) - 2025-05-26" the Sorting Order is not stored persistently/ permanently & Aliases cannot be deleted, so it's a bug I'am reporting in the latest "Release Candidate" version, which you need to fix on your end. I'am somewhat relieved it's not my MC Settings being corrupted !

Fix so sorting is saved and fixed so delete also deleted the item from the actual list. (not just UI)
