Usually the only things I do when I'm inside the files is either use the internal viewer or open the files with the associated program.

I press F3 to use the internal viewer, and press Enter to open a file in the external viewer/associated program.

The files are static, nothing has changed the files outside of MC. Unless the antivirus (Windows Defender) changes something when I look at files inside the zip.

Hello,

I've noticed that sometimes, when browsing inside a zip file, I press enter to get to a folder inside the zip file and nothing happens. It does not open and I get no error messages.

After closing and reopening MC, it works correctly.

I'm using MultiCommander (x64) v11.4 (build 2831) in Portable mode on Windows 10 Home 64 bits (19043.1415).

Thanks.

Thank you for your reply.

I've been using my shortcuts for a while now, and I was worried they would no longer work.

Hello,

Today, when I started Multicommander, it prompted me to update to version 11.0 Build 2770. I have a portable install on D:\multicommander

I have some User Defined commands, to run external programs. I've defined custom hotkeys to run these commands.

However, when I press the hotkeys I've defined previously, it no longer opens my custom commands.

I've added the commands to the toolbar, and clicking on the icons still works. However, this slows down my work flow, as it is faster to press the shortcuts instead of moving the mouse.

Also, for some reason, the User Commands list the icons for my programs as the compressed file icon:

Thanks.

Update: I just found out what happened. After the updater completed downloading and updating to version 11, I clicked on the "Start Multi Commander" button. This opened the program, but the hotkeys didn't work. When I closed the program and reopened from my regular shortcut, all the hotkeys work again.

I've just updated to version 7.1 (build 2347), and the issue is still present.

I have the option enabled, and it has been working for files since I first reported the issue.
However, folders are not resorted unless I refresh or change to a different tab and then return.

Hello,

I'm currently using Multi Commander (x64) v6.9.1 in portable mode.

It seems the issue I reported on this post from two years ago is still present:
http://forum.multicommander.com/forum/index.php/topic,1480.0.html

Changing tabs, refreshing the active tab or switching to different applications will re-sort the folders. But they are not sorted correctly.

Regards.

Is this a bug or a feature?

Support and Feedback / Automatically re-sort of folders not working
« on: August 04, 2015, 00:48:32 »
Hello, I'm not sure if this is a bug or some setting is wrong.

I've noticed that after manually renaming a folder, it does not move to the sorted position.

Here are my settings for the Sorting and Columns section:

I've tried enabling/disabling the option tuo automatically re-sort and I still get the same results.

If I rename a file, for example adding a "z" at the beginning, it will re-sort correctly. Doing the same for a folder, will keep it in the original position in the list, until I change tabs/panels, or switch to another application.

Let me know if you need additional information.

Regards.

Hi, I'm not sure if this is a bug or working as designed.

I'm using Multicommander on a Windows 7 SP1 Spanish installation.

I have the Natural Order option checked, and in Spanish, the alphabetical order goes like this: M, N, Ñ, O, P. However, Multicommander is soring the files with filename that starts with Ñ after Z at the end of the list.

Windows Explorer and other file managers sort the filenames with Ñ in the correct position, between N and O.

I've tried changing the MC language to Spanish, but it still doesn't affect the result.

Thanks.

Hello, I'm not sure if there is an option to have this behaviour:

I have multiple files with similar names: (file001, file002, file003 ... file999). They are in a folder with other files with similar names (afile001 ... afile999, bfile001 ... bfile999, cfile001 ... cfile999).
I have Quick search configured to search only when the letter typed stars the filename. If I type "f" it will jump to the first file with name (file001), and I want to be able to press Up arrow so I wrap to the last item in the list (file999).

I'm using this to check some log files, with similar names but numbered based on the date of the files. I can sort by date (ascending or descending), but sometimes the latest file in the list (file999) is not the most recent and it wont appear at the top.

Let me know if you need additional information.

Yes, the online rename doesn't select the .ext for me either.

What I want to do, is to be able to press the END key and go to the end of the filename either to append or delete some text.

The multi-rename extension is not useful in this specific scenario:

Feature Requests and Suggestions / Request for file rename operations
« on: February 14, 2015, 23:49:58 »
Hello, I have a request for the file rename operations.

Sometimes I need to rename files with long filenames and I don't want to change the file extension. Right now, the inline rename works just like in explorer, selecting only the filename without the extension.
Pressing the right arrow will move the cursor to the right of the dot and pressing left arrow will move the cursor to the left of the dot. Pressing home will move the cursor to the beginning of the name of the file and pressing end will move the cursor to the end of the extension.

I'd like either of these things to be included as a new feature.
  A. Add an option besides the inline rename, to open a new dialog box in which I have the filename and extension fields separated. So I can press home or end, and go to the beginning or end of the filename only without including the extension.
Similar to the image below (this is from another program):

B: If the option to show the file extension in a separate column is active, make the inline rename don't display the file name (not sure if this option already exists).

Thanks, regards.

Sorry I didn't answer sooner. I was kinda busy last week.

I also found out that any action that causes the screen to refresh makes the MC icon to appear. I saw these other two cases:

1. MC was running on a laptop, all tray icon options disabled. I connected an external monitor to use as extended deskto and it caused the MC tray icon to appear.
2. I was running MC on a desktop, and then an application disabled Windows Aero. This caused the screen to refresh / redraw, and the MC tray icon appeared.

I just reproduced the issue again.

I closed all other programs running and only Multi Commander is open. I even disabled my antivirus temporary to try.

When I open the other program (AIMP3), it again caused the MC tray icon to appear.

I've included two screenshots of my desktop (they are quite big).

Edit: And something else I just noticed. If I close/reopen MC, the tray icon disappears. And closing AIMP3 is causing the icon to appear again.
It looks like AIMP3 is doing something weird with the notification area.

Support and Feedback / Tray Icon appears but all options are disabled
« on: February 02, 2015, 06:29:43 »
Hello, I've been using Multi Commander for two weeks now. The multiupdated just updated to version 5.0 (Build 1888) 64bit.

I'm running on a Windows 7 SP 1 64bit. All the options to show the tray icon are disabled. However, when I open another program (Music Player AIMP3), the tray icon for MC appears.

I have a dual monitor setup, MC is running on the main desktop (left monitor) and AIMP3 opens on the secondary desktop (right monitor), and snaps to the right side of the screen.

If I go to the general options, and enable or disable the options to show the tray icon, it doesn't disappear. Only closing and reopening MC works.

Let me know if you need additional information.

Hello, I've just started using this program.

When I open a file from within a compressed archive, the temporary file is deleted as soon as it is displayed.

Is there an option not to delete the temporary file while the archive or the tab that has it listed is still open?

Thanks.
