Support and Feedback / Re: Font sizes
« Last post by Mathias (Author) on May 19, 2021, 07:59:05 »
If you see bad then all program on Windows should need to be larger then you really should increase the scaling factor in Windows, This will make all UI elements in all programs larger. And MC respect this settings.

Explorer Settings are in MC.. Menu > Configurations > Explorer Panel Settings and you can change some of the fonts there. But if it is a large change you need then Windows Scaling will do a better job since more then fonts are changed.
It is settings for whats inside the Explorer Panel.  (Tab that show file system)

Support and Feedback / Font sizes

Hello,
You know, I do not see as well as 20 years ago ; and this is the main reason why I use multi-commander. You were very reactive about the font size to display the file names, thank you for that.
Some other areas of the UI would deserve attention on the same aspect.
Maybe the menus (dropdown and contextual) are the most often read. The file size area down the two panels is not obvious as there is rich information compared to the place available for it, so probably increasing the font size on it would require some more work to give it place to display.
I saw a few threads in the forum dedicated to readability, and I must admit I was unable to take profit of them. The drives lists (Alt F1 / Alt F2) loose their font in some badly identified situations I have read somewhere : this induces you can choose a font somewhere. Well sorry, I do not know where. Somewhere you mention the explorer settings, do you mean the Windows Explorer ? Oh, I came as I was pretty sure there was no easy way to modify the font there.
So, perhaps it is a question of documentation, I did not look at the correct place ?
Maybe I could better discover some other aspects of MultiCommander if did not have to spend so much time on opening the Windows lens and closing it again.
For instance, when opening the software you have a nice dialog to display tips, but I can only read that dialog with the Windows lens (the magnifier).

Hello,
Do you have any idea how to choose the font to display this ?

Support and Feedback / Re: MC can't see my Nextcloud folder

Thanks for the hint  :)

I didn't notice it until now but the folder is marked as system but not hidden. I assumed that I had the same settings between MC and windows explorer (where I told him to show hidden files but don't show hidden and system files)

The folder might have hidden och system attribute set. Press the icon to the left of the color wheel icon on the toolbar to change so hidden files are shown.

Support and Feedback / MC can't see my Nextcloud folder

I have nextcloud in %userprofile%\Nextcloud

If I go to %userprofile% with windows explorer, i see the Nextcloud folder. If I go to %userprofile% with MC I can't see the Nextcloud folder.

But... If I manually type %userprofile%\Nextcloud in MC, i can access it.

I wonder why

AlanJB, I tried doing that and no effect.  There's actually multiple sections under Device Filtering that can look for it, and I unchecked all of them.  Good suggestion to try though.

Mathias, I increased the logging level to Debug and you seem to be right, that it's hanging on adding the logical devices:
2021-05-11 09:49:53.095 Use extra UI thread for progress dialogs : 0
2021-05-11 09:49:53.173 Initilizing device manager
2021-05-11 09:49:53.217 [Device Manager] - Adding/Updating logical devices (A-Z)
2021-05-11 10:02:07.645 [Device Manager] - Adding/Updating Virtual folders - Started
2021-05-11 10:02:07.788 Dropbox appdata folder not found : "C:\Users\**USERNAME**\AppData\Roaming\Dropbox"

After trying to remove non-essential network mappings with no success, I was staring at all of the logic drives and realized I left a USB Floppy Drive plugged in from the day before trying to backup old assets.  Unplugging that fixed it!  I feel very silly now  :P.  Not sure what about having this device plugged in caused the hangup, but at least this device isn't essential for me to have plugged in.

Thanks for helping me troubleshoot that!  If you'd like any followup info, let me know!

I left my PC on over the weekend with it trying to load, and both the installed and the portable version did eventually open....but I have no idea how long it took.

I tried your suggestion, waited 10-15 minutes while it hung trying to boot, and it finally started.  Not really sure if that's quicker than before, but it's more information at least.

I took a cursory look through the logs and I found an operation that looks like it took about 12 minutes:
2021-05-10 10:44:32.725 Use extra UI thread for progress dialogs : 0
2021-05-10 10:56:47.573 Dropbox appdata folder not found : "C:\Users\**USERNAME**\AppData\Roaming\Dropbox"

I'm not sure what's going on here because I'm not using Dropbox on this PC.  I will say that I am using OneDrive, and in the drop down selection with all of my drives, there's a blank line that takes me to C:\Users\**USERNAME**\OneDrive\.  There may have been an update to OneDrive that's causing problems, maybe???

Do you have any other suggestion? Any way to disable this Dropbox check, or from it trying to load up OneDrive?

It can't have to do with dropbox. it only check if that dropbox db file exists.
There are lots of stuff happening before that point. and if you increse loglevel in core settings you see a lot more.
Like it adds all available devices ( A:-Z:), maybe some of the device are stalled network devices so windows lock up on them until they timeout.

Try:

Menu > Configuration > Explorer Panel Settings > Device Filtering Tab

Expand 'Explorer panel device dropdown'
Check 'Override default settings'
Uncheck 'Dropbox'

Any improvement?
