Thanks, that helped. I had some fights with the dialog in the tabs, sometimes it would refuse to accept different colors for in/active, a restart would fix that.
I have set me up some 12 colored groups using that registry entry.

Excuse me, i overlooked it.

IIRC before dark mode i had tab groups like for instance g:\ which had 2 kinds of green, one for active, one for not.
Now in dark mode this is not by default anymore, it seems i have to set each tab 'theme' colors, using the colorpicker twice, then duplicate the tab and finally save session.
But its quite some work, I wonder if a script could do that, or maybe some other means?

When i check 'use hover color' on a green tab and click on another tab it reverts to default color again.
When i check it, it's only green as long as i hover.

I have some tabs that have colors to indicate some project or disk so i'd like use various colors but those should be solid, else it's not readable.
But tabs that have solid color only get their special color when clicked on, else they are the default.

Something strange:
I have a few tabs with green color. Now if i right click on the tab and do Properties, then click Solid color, the visibility improves but if focus gets away from the tab it turns light-blue, the green color is gone, only when i hover it green comes back.
When 'use hover color when tab is active' is checked, the tab is green when hovered or clicked. When unchecked only when hovered.
What i'm trying to say, i can't get 'Solid color' with my desired green color, it reverts to light blue. I must be doing something wrong.

Hi Mathias,

I'm trying out dark mode. On the tabs only the path of the current active tab is readable.
And i would love to increase font size on the tabs.

Yes sorry i meant that. I have enabled it back again, i don't like when i rename something and have to refresh the window. I wish one could set that timeout in windows. Never mind, thanks for the best filemanager.

Hi Mathias,

When i close my laptop (so it goes to sleep) and go to my desktop where a share was open to the laptop, it always takes a minute or more before MC becomes responsible again.
Is there anything you can do?

'You are not allowed to have more than 5 connections at the same time'.
On the bar with ftp i can see 3 older connections, clicking on them gives me a map on the server, it did not do that before.
Will let you know if i run into troubles again.

I'm using MC for years now, for me it beats all others, even the expensive paid ones.
The one feature i miss is total commander's view text feature where you can scroll through files in one tab, and get to see the (text) contents in the other.
I wouldn't need it to do pics as well but since you already have that code in the multi viewer it could as well do it to, but it's not part of my request.

I've complained before about long waiting times when copying a file, sometimes over a minute.
I found that if this starts (windows present a wait cursor)  i can start explorer and browse to the the destination folder, the moment i hit that folder, mc commences to copy and the wait is over.

the cpu problem does not happen on the laptop.
On the desktop, if i close all panels, the cpu goes to 0, opening just one panel and it goes to 6.6.

fixed it by importing the settings from the laptop, cpu is back to normal.

i got 'bad gateway' trying to upload, maybe because the filesize is quite big, 154mb, i've put it here https://jcremers.com/MultiCommander.DMP
The file shows nothing in nirsoft bluescreenview though.

Mc taking longer to respond is what i see on two pc's here. You've told me before it only uses windows api but i can't help seeing a big difference, sorry.

Mathias i have a widget on the desktop that shows cpu for processes. This mc beta shows between 6 and 7% cpu being idle. I never saw that before so i downgraded to latest stable and cpu use is normal again, so low it doesn't even show up anymore.
Also where is the page to download older beta's please, the previous one was working fine.

Also, while i have your ear, for me a weak point in mc, my favorite filemanager, it how it handles a network share that is gone, it does not respond for a long time, no other filemanager takes so long.

Mathias the problem with the network shares is gone now i've disabled those drive's in settings.

The other problem, some 16 seconds wait before a copy, did not happen again since yesterday. Maybe it was something temporary from a windows update i don't know but i'm relieved, fingers crossed.
I don't want to use another filemanager.

I guess that it is the first time you do a copy.
Because the first time it will check devices and what type they are to check what Read/write statergy to use.

This is new behaviour, MC did not do this before, also explorer and others have no delay.

in Core Settings > FileSystem > Tweak
You can select devices to hide. Devices here will not be checked at startup. However I do think they are check the first time you do a copy..
